No matter how desperate you are, giving up your child is unacceptable. Plus these people seem never read or bargain the contracts. Ex: Cinderella-she signed the contract without reading it. She said she will give him anything. Rumple asked again: “anything?”. She said yes. Then it wasn’t really him tricking her right?
Rumple is a trickster. Did he ask her straight? Did he made clear what the bargain was? Rumple knew Cinderella was by no way thinking at that moment, that he might later ask for her first born. Right, Cinderella probably should have asked about every detail including every single word of the fineprint and insist on letting an experienced contract lawyer double-check it. Every 18-years old is already that smart and experienced in life to know that. I’m not saying what she did was right or not naive, all I’m saying is, it’s not simple black and white here, the motive to do what these parents did, wasn’t simple greed, the motives are more complex. Who are we to so easily judge them?
Rumple makes use of people’s desperation, naivety and nescience. A fair deal is something different. And does he really care about the kids? He compensates at best his own guilty feelings, telling himself, he is doing something eventually good. But actually he doesn’t care, he is an opportunist, making use of the parents and their kids and the adopting parents. He is not acting out of any empathy, he’s selfish one way or the other.
I don’t expect her to ask about the details. She didn’t even read the freaking contract. And she agreed that she would give him anything. And that’s the way of life dear. Read before you sign your contract. You can just agree to sign the paper selling your house and then tomorrow, when they come for your house, you said you didn’t read the contract? that they tricked you?

I agree Cinderella was stupid in that sitution.
But that still doesn’t take anything away from Rumple being a trickster. He did it intentionally..
That she let herself be tricked is her story. And Rumple probably knew she was an easy target.November 24, 2012 at 8:35 am #161958gigiParticipantOf course he did it intentionally. He is a trickster, who says he doesn’t? :3
November 24, 2012 at 8:40 am #161959GrimmsisterParticipantWell I thought you did in your earlier post when you questioned why Cinderella would use the exuse of being tricked….
but if not then fine fine we agree on Rumples trickery 😀November 24, 2012 at 3:03 pm #161988gigiParticipantAh I mean he is a trickster. But in Cinderella case, he hadn’t tricked her Yet she fell for the contract immediately. She even promised to do anything. The case that he really tricked someone is Regina. He planned to help her framed MM by killing Kathryn but in the end, he let Kathryn go and things turned back on Regina. Not to mention, he came for her for help (Moe beating trial) first. And trickster here can be understand as an arch type, he rarely trickes as long as I can see but he does twist very much in every deals he has made so far 😉
November 24, 2012 at 3:55 pm #162006RumplesGirlKeymasterI’ve often wondered if he really wanted Cinderella’s baby. Rumple is so cunning and sees almost every move on the board, that I’ve often thought he wanted to locked up. It was part of the plan. He knew Cinderella would try to trap him, which is why he “signed” the new contract even with a quill that was so OBVIOUSLY magic. But he did get her back a little, making Thomas disappear (and I doubt we will ever find out where or what happened there).
Now with the real James, if he did see some sort of future between Snow and someone who looked like James (identical twins and all) he wouldn’t know which twin to give to George, so he just chose. But in the end, when James died, he brought George the other baby, our Charming, and that turned out to be the right baby.
With Cora and Regina….hmm. Either she guessed his name like in the real fairy tale (which doesn’t make a lot of sense here I think since Rumple has a tendency to introduce himself) OR she got ahold of his dagger and forced him to teach magic and reliquish his claim on Regina in return for giving him back the dagger. And now that’s she’s with Hook, she can explain how the dagger is the only way to kill the Dark One."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love" -
