Speaking of genies, some have also noticed that Yensid is not only Disney spelled backwards, but Sidney could also be an intentional anagram. Perhaps there is a connection there?
So Rumple is Yensid?
Rumple is The Apprentice, who takes Yensid’s hat to play with, and it’ll all turn to h, e, double broomsticks.
Or Regina’s the apprentice. Perhaps she flooded Rumpel’s castle, causing him to have to hire a certain maid.

The real reason for the new house? The pink Victorian was sold last year and they no longer have the rights to film there. So they either need a new house or film in the library or shop all the time.

They are also bring Zoso back into this season for a flashback. Maybe the owner of the hat is apart of the Dark One History. Rump probably hunted him down and was once HIS apprentice. Maybe that’s why (in-universe) whoeve the house belonged to was willing to let the Dark One use it for the Taco-mo0on *cough* I mean Honeymoon 😛 because it was a gift to his student, his apprentice.

I think way back when I had some idea that it would be cute to see Servant!Belle attempt to use the hat to help with her mopping, and consequently flood Rumple’s hall.
Noticed last night that “Sidney” contains the same letters as Yen-sid and Disney, but I guess this was a little naming tribute early on? Still, could be tied in somehow, I suppose.
It took me awhile to realize that was a hat. As a 3-D approximation of a multidimensional vortex thing, it looked good, but it didn’t say “hat” the way a real prop with a bit of CGI shimmer would have.

It was during somewhere mid/late season two or over the summer for season three. There was actually a real estate listing of the house up on the internet when it went up for sale. If we do ever see it again, it will be rebuilt sets on a stage and I have the feeling they’re not going to put that in the budget when they can always film Rumbelle in the public library or Rumple’s shop.
