In the episode Manhattan, Rumple’s deal with Emma is specifically to get Neal to talk to him – this makes me think that Rumple and Neal had seen each other at least once before they were first separated. Possibly in Neverland.
I could see Bael/neal refusing to talk to Rumple when/if they met in Neverland. Rumple could be the reason that Bae/neal was able to escape Neverland.
Pretty sure Manhattan was intended to be the first time Rumple has seen his son in centuries; He wouldn’t need to build this curse to end all curses if he’d found Bae in Neverland.
I wouldn’t rule out the other way around, though, since Neal said he has seen what Rumple did to people who breaks deals.
Good point, but…
Neal also said that he’d “been running from…” his father for a very long time. I definitely think Rumple and Pan have encountered each other before, so it’s possible Rumple and Bae/Neal were aware of each other in Neverland. and Neal ran away!

That doesn’t mean Rumple was aware of Bae whenever/if Rumple went to NL. My personal inclination is that whenever Rumple went to NL (to get squid ink is my current theory) Bae saw his father from a distance and began to try and figure out how to leave NL. But the trick here is that no one is supposed to be able to leave. In my own theory, PP let Bae leave because Bae had to father Henry someday. But PP had to wait until after the Curse was cast and until Emma was a bit older. Bae was eventually allowed to leave, though in his eyes it probably seemed like he got lucky and found a way to leave because I think PP is very sneaky.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 24, 2013 at 2:01 pm #195947RumplesGirlKeymasterBesides: if Rumple knew where Bae was (ie: he saw him in NL) there would have been no reason to have cast the Curse. Rumple’s whole thing was finding Bae.

Sneaky PP is sneaky. 😉

Yeah, if Rumple was in NL, he didn’t see Bae there. Furthermore, Hook probably didn’t see Rumple there. But if all of Rumple’s NL business was conducted with Ursula, he was under the sea for the whole time anyway.
May 24, 2013 at 3:08 pm #195969PanTheManParticipantSince people who step foot on Neverland aren’t allowed to leave, it’s possible that Rumple had to find a way to free Baelfire from this and get him to a land without magic so that he would eventually find him there. Baelfire could be oblivious to any knowledge of his father’s assistance of this.
His foresight would have showed him that all this had to lead to a world without magic.
May 24, 2013 at 3:14 pm #195970RumplesGirlKeymasterI suppose that could play out and PP would agree because he can’t have Bae on NL either given that he wants Henry for something.

Oh, I wouldn’t be so sure about this, given how Rumple knew Smee had joined Hook’s crew when nothing in the flashbacks of “The Crocodile” indicated such. Also, Rumples knows and fears Peter Pan, he has to have faced him in Neverland at least once.

Ah, fair point about him knowing Smee was part of the crew. As far as his fear of PP, I’m currently preferring the theories that he had a run in with him as a child, as opposed to as an adult, but I’m not 100% sold either way just yet.
May 25, 2013 at 12:45 pm #196061RumplesGirlKeymasterI’m not sold on either of those ideas! 😆
I much prefer the idea that Rumple met PP almost by accident. He went to NL to get squid ink for part of his plan for the Curse and was found by the Lost Ones and PP. PP recognized that Rumple’s “Dark One” shadow could do the same job as Henry’s without all the pesky waiting. Somehow Rumple escaped (in my head, Bae frees him without Rumple knowing it was Bae) and Rumple flees NL with his squid ink and now knowing that NL is a bad place for him. When they get to NL in S3 PP will still be after Henry but can still also use the Dark One’s Shadow. Rumple will sacrifice his magic, his Dark One’s self, to save Henry and thus be rid of his magic without dying and both Henry and PP are his undoing."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 25, 2013 at 5:46 pm #196092gypsyParticipantMaybe only children can’t leave once they set foot in NL. That may not apply to The Dark One.
Also, I think that Jefferson realm jumped to NL when he worked for Rumple.
Maybe he took the pic to PP. And, being that he realm jumped, he wasn’t stuck in NL.
It’s part of a theory I posted on here somewhere a while back about Jefferson writing the book.
He met Bae in NL and knows his story. Jefferson worked for Rumple a could have found out about the dagger, or Jefferson could have also ran into Hook in NL and found out about the dagger from him.
That could also tie in with how August knew about the dagger and who Bae was. August went to SB at least once before we see him arrive in True North (when Regina is talking to Emma in 7:15 am, August rides by and Regina says he looks familiar. Which is odd because August looks a lot different than when he was a child, so why wouldhe look familiar to Regina?). August met with Jefferson. Jefferson is the one who told August about the dagger and Bae and then August went to find Bae as we see in Tallahassee. -
