Was randomly pondering Ursula some more and something occurred to me…
When we saw Rumple take Sheriff of Nottingham’s tongue, it instantly made me think of Ursula taking Ariel’s, (in the Anderson version, the sea witch actually removes the mermaid’s tongue, unlike in the Disney version where she just takes her voice), and I was all, “Ursula totally stole that trick from Rumple!” But since I’ve been thinking about it, maybe it was actually part of a deal, and Ursula gave him the squid ink in exchange for the spell to take someone’s tongue?
Now, speaking of deals that Rumple may make in NL for other stuff he wanted, other than squid ink…NL is a world stuck in time. SB was a world stuck in time. Did Rumple need a specific ingredient for his curse that could only be found in NL? If he’d been taken there as a child, (which is becoming one of my new fave theories) then he’d know about the properties of time there.
Then there’s the question of who controls time in NL? Is it a particular person, like PP? Or is it just some property that’s inherent to the world itself? If it’s PP, then perhaps Rumple did interact with him during the time Bae was there. If it was just something in the water and he needed a few drops, then that could explain him visiting Ursula, coz she’s where the water is.
Or was Rumple’s visit to NL as an adult where he originally got the basis of the Curse from? Again, this would work if he’d been there as a child and learned something about PP and NL back then. Perhaps PP cast the Curse and that’s how he entered NL from wherever he’d originally been? So when Rumple had decided he had to do the same thing, he remembered what he’d learned of PP, and went back to NL to get specific knowledge of the Curse from him?
How many question marks can one person use in a single post? 😛

It’s on paper: it’s not like there is a giant cauldron where Rumple was throwing bits of this and bits of that. At least not that we know. To enact the Curse, to get it to begin, yes, ingredients were needed. But in constructing the Curse: what was needed other to just find it?
That’s my round about way of saying I don’t know if he went to NL specifically for something for the curse itself, but rather for something that would aid him (like the squid ink) and only him."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 27, 2013 at 1:15 pm #196255PheeParticipantI just find it curious that time didn’t advance in SB and time also doesn’t advance in NL. Seems too identical to be coincidence, so I figure there’s gotta be a link in there somehow.
Rumple put a drop of twu wuv potion on the paper the Curse was written on, so I was envisioning something similar by calling something from NL an “ingredient” that formed part of how the Curse operated.

I like your thought about NL/SB and the time/not aging connections.
Rumple did make the curse so it would take him to where Bae went.
We all know that in the PP story, he could travel between NL and our world.
Whatever it was that was put into the curse to take Rumple to where Bae was had to be something that ‘knew’ that.
Also, Rumple had to have had some type of insight….I’m sure it occurred to him that Bae may age in a land without magic….he aged in EF and after 2 centuries (+/-) how could he have possibly thought Bae would still be alive? Unless he knew better?June 6, 2013 at 2:29 pm #197402Marty McFlyParticipant@KFChimera wrote:
Someone had a theory that August was a lost boy and had met Neal in NL at some point during August’s saga, that NL was also Pleasure Island. I’m not entirely sure of that (timeline headaches) but maybe. That could explain how August had the picture of the dagger, and knew about Bae’s name, if he got them from PP. I’m still wondering how much August knew about the curse, and why he felt total separation was necessary between Bae and Emma. Maybe there’s more to August’s reverting to a boy then just a cheesy way to end off his story…(but I’m doubtful!).
Yes!!!!! for a while now I was thinking that August was a very bad boy during this backstory that wasn’t shown yet. for example when he did not give Emma the money that Balefire (Neil) sent, and that he wanted them to separate completely. he OBVIOUSLY knew that Rumpelstiltskin was looking for his son, and that it was the reason he cast the curse in the first place, so why not just send Emma along with Neil to Story-Brooke? or something…
another thing, What if the “seer” was really not a seer at all but a girl from Neverland who was mutilated by PP (or whoever runs that place) so that she looks like a creepy seer and she knew that Mila was having a baby already she also knew who Rumple was (maybe he WAS in Never-land as a boy and she knew all about him) maybe she also knew that they were riding and that the seats were called cows etc. so she made it sound as if it’s all true. she might have even told that other guy that he must call Rumpelstiltskin to watch her because she knew who he was!!!
maybe it was August who made a deal with PP as the only way out of there so that Balefire could leave Never-Land with him on the condition that when he grows up he should break the curse and bring the dagger to PPJune 6, 2013 at 2:41 pm #197404Marty McFlyParticipant@KFChimera wrote:
Pixie Dust might be the key–but what is that stuff in NL? The original PP fairies are created from a baby’s first laugh, but this is a darker neverland. Are they created from children’s tears or something? )
!! maybe this is why Rumple wanted everyone’s baby? maybe he needed to fly so he could get to neverland and find his son?

I don’t know if Rumple drew the picture, but I’m just going by – so far there are only two ppl (at that time) who knew of ‘a boy that would be the Dark One’s undoing’ 1. Rumple 2. The seer – and she’s dead.
If the seer came from Nederland PP (or whoever runs Nederland) can see future as well. remember Rumpel said “but you’re a child” when he saw her?
June 6, 2013 at 3:01 pm #197411RumplesGirlKeymasterI also think the Seer might have been an agent of THO and PP. She was an important part of getting the ball rolling.
