OK, all you Rumple fans: here’s a poll for you. We’ve got a lot of big questions that season 2 needs to answer. But which answer are you most looking forward to?

But first and foremost, I want to find out why he brought magic in Storybrooke. We saw in “The Return” that Mr. Gold was ready to give up his lust for magic and power, so why the sudden change? And if he does need magic to find Baelfire, why? Is Baelfire trapped somewhere?
Personally, I think one of the reasons why he brought magic into the world is so that he could fight the final battle.
Here’s some really interesting theories explaining why Mr. Gold might have brought magic into our world. They were posted a few weeks ago. 😉

A curse as powerful as the Dark Curse would have seriously damaged the lines between our reality and the next. I hope we get more insight into that next season. That might be the “final battle” that Rumpel was talking about. Why would Rumpel want to fight an Apocalyspe immediately after he finds his son? He made the curse so that he could find his son, so why would he attach an Apocalypse onto it? It makes no sense. But I could easily see the bleeding of worlds into one another as the big “final battle” that he referring to. That definitely sounds definitely sounds like an Apocalypse.

Thank God I wasn’t the only thinking this. You’re absolutely right. The main objective of the curse is to find Baelfire. That’s the real reason why the curse was created and put into place. So, if Rumpel’s main objective is to find his son, then why would then turn around and create a magical World War III? Rumpel wants to be reunited with his son so that he can have his “happy ending,” and a big finale battle between good and evil doesn’t sound practical to me.
I think Midnight Dreary and Lil’Red are definitely onto something. In the end, the fight won’t between Rumpel, Regina and The Charmings, it will be between all the different worlds and dimentions. I think that’s the real reason why the writers introduced the concept of different worlds in “Hat Trick.” It was setting us up for what’s come in the future.

Great theories everyone! I’d also like to add that the real reason why Rumpel brought magic into the world is because he knows that the lines between each reality are fading and that impending war is certain. So, in an effort to defend this reality, he brought magic into the world so that Storybrooke would have a line of defense against all the different worlds. Because when you really think about it, why would Rumpel want more power? We saw in “The Return” that he was ready to give up his powers and lust for magic. He gave August the dagger to show him just how sincere his intentions were. So, why would he all of a sudden do a complete 180 and decide to go after more power? It dosn’t make any sense. And I also don’t think that Rumpel needs magic to find his son. Unless Baelfire is trapped in some mystical tomb burried miles under the Earth, than magic is not needed for this task.
So, with those theories discredited, what’s left? I think Lil’Red and Midnight Dreary are correct in their assessment that the worlds are probably slowly dissolving and seeping into one another. And if that’s the case, then magic is going to be needed in order to defend Storybrooke. The complete dissolution of all worlds and dimensions is definitely Apocalyptic.
I also believe that the 20 doors inside of Jefferson’s hat will be the main players in the final battle. Those will be the worlds who’ll “take the battlefield”

-Why did Mr. Gold bring magic to Storybrooke?
-How will Mr. Gold and Belle’s relationship progress.
-And after listening to last night’s podcast, I’m curious to see if Belle will go to the “dar side.”
-I NEED to find out what happened to Baelfire. After viewing “The Return,” Baelfire has become more important than I previously thought. So learning what happened to him after he landed in our world be great.June 28, 2012 at 12:10 pm #149240a_desperate_soulParticipantGah! There’s way too many options to choose from. I don’t know what to choose!
I’m anxious to learn anything and everything about Rumpel. His role in this show has been like gloo. He holds the whole thing together. He’s intimately connected to everyone on the show and he was the creator of the curse. So, anything the writers give us will make me happy. But for now, my main interests lie in Belle and Rumpel’s relationship and Rumpel’s reasoning behind bringing magic into the world.
And Midnight Dreary, I ADORE those theories! They actually make a lot of sense and will give the story more gravity and significance. The writers can only do the whole “The Charmigns vs. Regina” dance for so long. The idea of the final battle being about someone’s hatred for a little girl would be ridiculous and downright laughable. I seriously hope this isn’t where the writers are going. That would be a bit of a letdown. The show needs to go out on a BANG.

I’m sure it will. Snow and Charming aren’t the only two people Regina has made enemies of, she’s made herself public enemy #1 in multiple worlds. There’s plenty of hate to go around!
