Who do you think is more powerful out of these two? Ever since 2×08 when Regina and Rumple had a exchange of words about it i have always wondered, you know when Rumple says “She is powerful but not as powerful as i am” but then Regina instantly replies “Debatable”, and she has witnessed both of them so i don’t think she would be biased on that front. Pus Rumple seems intimidated by Cora more then anyone else on the show, you can tell that when they met last episode that he looked a little nervous (even though she was acting all loyal) so this leads me to believe that these two are currently the most powerful in the series, but who do you think gets the top slot?

– She probably learned absolutely everything she could from Rumple so they could be equals, but often she seems to know a lot more than he, not to mention she’s a lot more resourceful than him (for example the globe).
– She also ‘traveled through many worlds’ while he seemed to be using the Mad Hatter all the time. During her travels she surely encountered many things and tricks she learned.
– She also seems to be always a step ahead of everyone – much like Rumple – so that eventually he couldn’t use her to cast the curse?
– And we cannot forget that “love is weakness”. Cora doesn’t seem to have one and if it really is Regina, then well, she is powerful enough to defend herself. Rumple, on the other hand, has Belle and Bae, none of them know magic so they may really present weaknesses when it comes to threatening them.
– Cora also seem to be more cold-blooded. They are both manipulative but Rumple blew it all when he out of nowhere threatened the Charmings family. Things like that and he will not have any allies or anyone to listen to his manipulations. Cora is more diplomatic, she learned well from him how to play on people’s emotions and desperations and it seems to me like she really become better at it than her master. (not to mention that Rumple himself is a bit desperate right now)
– Everyone seem to know of Rumple’s weak point – the dagger, yet he seems to carry it with him everywhere – bad bad move! Cora is more sneaky about it and hid her heart and absolutely nobody has any idea where it might be. In my eyes Rumple is ‘more destructible’ than her, right this moment.
– The shear fact that Rumple is convinced that he is more powerful than Cora gives her a great advantage – people tend to underestimate the enemies they consider weaker.
– with just one sweep of her hand, Cora protected a vast piece of the Fairy Tale Land from Rumple’s meticulous curseJanuary 26, 2013 at 7:18 pm #170113PriceofMagicParticipantI think Cora is the more powerful one only because she is willing to go further than Rumple. Rumple would never deliberately put Belle or Bae in harm’s way whereas Cora would with Regina if it suited her needs at the time.
When I think of these two, I think of a line from one of the songs from Hunchback of Notre Dame, “What makes a monster and what makes a man?” Rumple has lines that he won’t cross whereas Cora would happily skip across them with a smile on her face. The fact that Cora has no boundaries means that she is not limited in what she can and won’t do.
All magic comes with a price!

However with that being said I do wonder about the fact that Rumple asked her if she knew someway to restore someone’s memory. It seems that even he is willing to admit that Cora may know some things about magic that he himself does not.

I like you already 😀 The only flaw is that Cora didn’t actually use her hand to block off the curse, it was a staff (But where did she get that from?) i guess we will have a definite answer who is more powerful when the final battle comes up, but for now i think the only thing Rumple has on Cora is immortality.

And it seemed quite obvious she wasn’t being honest when she said she didn’t know anything besides what he taught her, she seems far too knowledged to just be taught by one book.
January 27, 2013 at 1:42 am #170166theeviloneParticipantTo say it plainly I think that Cora is more powerful just because she does seem to be more cold blooded. She claims to love her daughter but I don’t think that is true. If she really did love her she would not do the things she does to try to break her. Regina loves Henry but instead of trying to change him she tried to change, Rumple loves Belle but instead of keeping her with him by force he let her go and often gave her the choice to be with him. So I think Cora is just saying she loves Regina in order to give herself in excuse to do something she is plotting on doing, an ulterior motive if you will. Cora more cold blooded and no weakness. Yes Cora most definately.

Where on the timeline do we think Cora’s world travels occurred? Obviously she didn’t have the ability to do it when she met Jefferson, and imprisoned him to force him into making a hat. Is there any way he could have made a working hat, which she then used? I’m guessing no, because he didn’t possess that sort of magic. Maybe that’s why she needed the White Rabbit instead? But did the Rabbit come before or after Jefferson? If before, then Cora had lost his services somehow, and needed to replace him. I’d guess after though. Cora was frustrated with Jefferson’s non-results with the hat making, and then she found the White Rabbit, who could take her to other worlds, so she employed him, set Jefferson free, and he skipped off to set up his crackpot tea party, (I do hope we get to see that tea party some day, and if it does happen in the Onceiverse, it has to have happened after the events we’ve seen where Cora locked him up and he lost his mind).
– The shear fact that Rumple is convinced that he is more powerful than Cora gives her a great advantage – people tend to underestimate the enemies they consider weaker.
That scene in the shop in In The Name Of The Brother is what proves to me that she’s more powerful than him, because what she said made him think he was still her superior. “I only know what you taught me…Master.” Pfffft, pull the other one, love. 😛 And the fact that she went there at all, to arrange a truce, implying that she’s no match for him, so wants his mercy. Puh-lease. And then she threw in the smooch for good measure, implying that she still has a crush on him, so he still has an emotional hold over her. What-eveeeerrrr. 🙄 If Rumple was on his game, he wouldn’t fall for it, but he’s lost, desperate and pre-occupied right now, so it was the perfect time for her to go to him with that little act.

Yes, “ruthless” is the perfect word to describe her!
January 27, 2013 at 10:40 am #170200swanning-offParticipantRuthless, without any ethics beyond do what I want to do…. Cora is more powerful because she won’t stop to worry about whether anyone will be disappointed in her.
But she is impulsive, more impulsive than Rumple. He’s been playing a long game to get to the land without magic since Bae dropped through the bean hole. Cora was all set to kill Regina when Hook brought her “body” back to the Enchanted Forest, and then had an instant change of mind. I think her impulsivity will be a bigger weakness than Rumple’s love, ultimately.
