Rumple’s still got a bit of a score to settle with Regina for the whole Lacey thing. After all, from his perspective, the last few days he got to spend with Belle she wasn’t Belle. (Not to mention the 28 years + a year of time actually moving + 1-3 years before THAT of being imprisoned…) And to top off his horrid feelings of failure, he had to use the Blue Fairy’s solution to get Belle back at all–he didn’t just fail Bae, he failed Belle. He’s declared a truce with Hook for the moment, but I suspect the only reason that Regina hasn’t gotten some vengeance from him yet is that a) there wasn’t time and b) he’s still bound by his promise to Belle from the season premiere. You notice he wasn’t exactly eager to help the Charmings find Regina and save her.

So I’m wondering how that’s going to blow up in S3 and when. Their relationship is so beautifully complex…I mean, I think he genuinely did feel sorry for Regina when Cora died, though he didn’t express it very well. He knows precisely what she’s been through and what she’s done on his behalf, knowingly or not. And yet they’ve clearly been battling in some manner for years and years, a power struggle that does reflect that father-daughter type of relationship they have (which does NOT mean I think she’s biologically his–she’s not–just that’s the shape of their relationship about 80% of the time).

More and more I see why Rumple wanted to leave Belle behind, whether or not it was a good choice. Might keep his temptation to throw Regina and Hook overboard at bay long enough to help Henry.

Yes, I think Rumple’s main concern right now is Henry, but I very much doubt he’ll see eye to eye with anyone on that ship. He’s used to, by this point, being able to get whatever he wants with magic and his power. He has no cause to be happy with Regina right now but his methods are much more akin to hers, and has much as he wants to be the romantic hero like Charming, he finds it really difficult. And goodness knows he isn’t going to forgive Hook that quickly (and vice versa).
I think we could possibly group the entire JR crew into camps
The Charmings: the heroic path to find Henry
Rumple and Regina: the “less than” heroic path, shall we say who will want to use power to get Henry back. And if we’re right that PP might be attracted to the Dark One’s power, any plan they come up with could ultimately backfire.
Which leaves Hook, who often floats between.

I think Regina may try to ally herself with Rumple on the ship. Rumple and Regina are kind of the outsiders of the group. You have the whole team Charming then you have Hook, who’s been crossed by Regina, who’s crossed her back, who’s now allied himself with Emma.

Everyone on the ship is working towards the same goal of finding Henry but that doesn’t mean the past is easily forgotten. Regina has been trying to kill the Charmings for decades, even recently in Storybrooke. Rumple is the closest thing she has to a friend on the ship. However, Rumple isn’t going to easily forgive Regina for what she did to Belle, whilst he made a promise to Belle that he wouldn’t kill Regina in Broken, he never said he would save her if she were to be in mortal danger.

It’s gonna be really interesting to see how the conflicting emotions and methods of operation play into exactly how they go about rescuing Henry.

Regarding Hook’s role, as far as most of them are aware, he’s the only one who has experience in NL, but we suspect that Rumple must have some experience there too. Whether or not he’ll want to reveal that to the others, who knows. If he wants to keep it quiet, that means he’ll have to play along and let Hook be their leader, which would be torture for him, and fun to watch.
