So, the fact that Rumple ripped off his own shadow using his Dark One dagger and then commanded his shadow to hide the dagger tells us a few things:
1) Like Peter Pan, Rumple can rip shadows too
2) Rumple used his dagger to rip his own shadow.
3) Rumple can control his own shadow.I think Peter is cursed in a similar way to how Rumple is cursed. This also supports the idea that Rumple and Peter Pan have similar powers. Maybe the Dark One curse comes from Neverland. Peter Pan could be the original dark one. Also, I think that Peter Pan might have a dagger similar to Rumple’s with which PP riiiiped his own shadow off.

I think PP can control his own shadow like Rumple (side note: more convinced than ever that they are brothers)
I think the dagger and the Dark One’s shadow are going be HUGE toward the end of the episode. I think it will be sacrificed.

Now is the task of one day reattaching his shadow to his person. If he’s undone and has no power anymore, who would do that? I can’t see Belle sewing his shadow back on like Wendy did for Peter in the original story. Might we need to trust Regina or the BF or even Tink to do it?

I don’t know. I thought he told the shadow to hide it because he knows PP can use it against him.

If Tink is a double agent like we suspect, then I’d say her.

It feels reconn-y if they change it now since there have been no indications (to my knowledge) that such a thing was possible.

Oh, I totally think that, but what I originally meant was that does Rumple no longer have the to power to rip other people’s shadows off? Does he need his own dagger to rip someone else’s shadow or can he do it with any dagger?

good question. How did Pan’s shadow come off of him? Did another Dark One remove it?

Agreed.
I wonder, however, if Peter, like Bae, isn’t the son of a Dark One, but one who was conceived and born during his dark parent’s reign and thus inherited the dark power. That’d be believable, I think.

I feel like this season we’ll be getting Shadow 101 lessons like last year was Hearts. Apparently if you yank a shadow out of someone’s back, it kills them (a la Greg), but if you cut it off around the feet (WONDERFUL nod to Peter Pan I might add since they were always trying to reattach his shadow from his foot), then you can control it and send it off to do things for you. Very interesting indeed!
Definitely on board the – it was creepy but interesting – train though. I wasn’t expecting Rumple to do that! In fact, if we saw that kind of thing at all, I was expecting it to be in Peter Pan flashbacks to explain how things got to be the way they are now.
Still not sure how Tink fits into anything or who the Original Dark One might be but I’m definitely on board with the idea that Peter and Rumple are related somehow. There’s definitely history at the very least and I can’t wait to learn more!
