I’ve been looking online for fairy tales with someone riding on a bird and the only one I can find is Thumbelina. This is just a crackpot theory and it probably isn’t even true…actually…I am 99% sure it isn’t true…but I was just really curious about this necklace and I am sure that image means something. Here is a short excerpt from Hans Anderson’s Thumbelina:
“Yes, I will go with you,” said Tiny; and she seated herself on the bird’s back, with her feet on his outstretched wings, and tied her girdle to one of his strongest feathers.
Then the swallow rose in the air, and flew over forest and over sea, high above the highest mountains, covered with eternal snow. Tiny would have been frozen in the cold air, but she crept under the bird’s warm feathers, keeping her little head uncovered, so that she might admire the beautiful lands over which they passed.
(Tiny is Thumbelina, they just call her Tiny).
I then looked into greek and roman mythology since they have been using that a lot. Another one of my crazy stupid theories is that the boy in the image is Cupid. It sort of seems like something is portruding out of the child’s back which may be wings. I read that cupid is often shown riding a bird. I mean, Cupid is a symbol for Love so maybe that is just what the necklace was showing. Here are some pictures:
Again, these are just crazy theories. So don’t think I am insane….

This is Ruth’s. Looks like someone riding on the back of a bird.
I think I would like to be the jeweler who has the “royalties / copyrights” on OUaT jewelry I bet they would make a mint.

If you can’t share insane theories here, then where can you. 😆 I’m really liking your Cupid idea. Would make sense that a pendant with someone completely associated with love on it would be able to predict even as yet un-conceived babies.

Back to the original topic … 🙂
In The Secrets of Once Upon a Time‘s “Lady of the Lake” episode (not yet posted), they briefly theorized that maybe the gypsy was on of Jiminy’s parents. I initially dismissed that thought because of the required age difference. (“That Still Small Voice” was about 50 years before “Lady of the Lake.”)
But then I rewatched “Lady of the Lake” today and realized that Ruth said that it was spelled by a gypsy and given to Ruth by her mother. Thus, it could be possible that one of Jiminy’s parents was the one to spell the necklace. That would be cool to see that connection, but not necessary for the story.
Thank you for the gentle reminder to keep on task, Daniel! LOL! And yes, though I originally thought of Stromboli, the gypsy puppet master, I agree that Jimminy’s parents/people may be of particular interest to this story.
