They could have just said some random character is being casted for whatever!!! Why lie? >___>
If they would have just used a description most of us would have immediately thought of Merida. It does seem like she is still tied to Rumple in some way, so that is good.

If they would have just used a description most of us would have immediately thought of Merida. It does seem like she is still tied to Rumple in some way, so that is good.
Which is fine if they needed to hide Merida, but they could have just distanced this character from Rumple and never gone with “mother” route seeing as that was something a lot of people have been guessing about for awhile now. And even then, none of us guessed Merida when we read the casting call (just like none of us guessed Rapunzel when we got that call–most thought Tiana or Dorothy). So, this is sorta low for them.

Red hair, and good with a bow? Repeating what I said in the Comic Con thread – Merida is the Wicked Hood baby from the future. Camelot exists out of time, and they mentioned the FUTURE for a reason, I think. Zelena gives birth in Camelot sometime near the end of 5A.

The red hair and mad bow skillz would certainly be fitting for someone who has Zelena and Robin as their parents. (Though if the actress keeps her Scottish accent, that wouldn’t be a fit.)
But I’m still not wrapping my head around the timeline business, and I kinda think that your theory is something beyond what the writers would have thought of, (I’m more inclined to think they just chose poor wording in answering a question).
It seems that Merida was the 3rd person in a scene that was shot with PeasantRumple and DarkEmma, which would place her in the EF in the time before Rumple became the DO. So at this point I’m inclined to think that she’s just someone who lived back in that time, and Emma got zapped back there for whatever reason.
