Too Much To Highlight On Here, So I’ll Just Answer The Briefest Points.
1. Marian
Marian…Marian…Marian….first of all, we may need a flashback to see how Marian even helped Snow out in the first place. Second of all, if what everyone is saying is true about Regina just dragging Marian around until they find Snow White. That would have given enough time for word to spread to the Merry Men who could’ve carefully hatched a plan to rescue her. As you said…Marian wasn’t going anywhere till Snow was shackled…for all we know Snow could have saved Marian herself. But we’ll never know because Marian simply gave up, and said nothing. 95% of Marian’s death goes to Regina, but 5% goes to Marian for not trying to even find a way to save herself, or to prolong time enough.
I remember in the Wonderland Musical, Alice met the Queen of Hearts who as usual declared “off with her head”. Did Alice nod her head and kept silence….nope, Alice was a quick thinker who told the Queen whatever she needed to hear to preserve her head atop of her body. That was enough time to escape.

And to be honest….Marian could never bring back the whole “You killed me thing” when Regina has saved her twice now. And if Death decides to just give up on killing Marian, I hope she finds her happy ending because she does deserve a place in Roland’s life, and she does deserve true love…just not with Robin Hood.
2. “Free Will Be Da**ed” – Regina (4×08 Smash The Mirror)
Although Regina DID become the Evil Queen…we mustn’t forget who INFLUENCED/PUSHED her toward that place in the first place. Yes, she pulled the trigger, but folks…we all know who loaded the gun. As for being a pawn…in Rumple’s most infamous words from 2×05: “Now I have MY monster.”
And since we wish to pull the learning magic card….just as Rumpelstilskin told Emma what to do, but twisted the words enough to get her to do what he knew she would end up doing, but he just made it seem like a choice…..that’s what he did to Regina! He twisted the words enough to make it seem like she had a choice, but said enough to get her to want to agree. It was no choice…it was pure manipulation.
No one is taking away Regina’s actions because she made the choices she made once she looked in the mirror, and basically said “Here’s the Evil Queen”. But what led up to that moment in time plays a huge part in creating the Evil Queen! Regina has accepted responsibility for her actions, but she doesn’t regret them because it got her, her son. All the heartbreak, the evil, the hell she went through and caused herself…it got her Henry, and she wouldn’t change a thing about it. And to be frank, it’s how Snow White got Prince Charming, and yes….I do think Emma is a little appreciative to Regina for casting the curse because not only did it get her out of having to grow up in a land where she’d be forced to wear ballgowns and singing to birds(which is NOT Emma Swan), but it’s how Emma was able to meet Neal, and have Henry. Everyone and Everything was for Henry!
3. Zelena
Let’s take it all the way back to the Miller’s Daughter where Rumple’s vision specifically said Cora’s first born daughter….Zelena. As we saw Zelena had an instant knack for dark magic, something Regina was weak in at first, but gradually pushed herself into empowering herself with it. Regina’s knack seemed to originally have been light magic, the strongest light magic, which was the opposite of Zelena’s strongest dark magic.
Rumple had already started to corrupt Regina, but he wanted to see if Zelena would be able to cast his curse faster, which is why he trained her as well. However, as soon as he saw Zelena was in love with him, he dropped her to go back to his second choice thus undoing his own prophecy about the curse caster being the first born. If we really look at it…Cora screwed Regina over again because due to her giving up Zelena…Regina got Zelena’s evil fate instead of her happy ending.
4. Emma preferring Storybrooke over Enchanted Forest
Snow White, and even some of SB Residents who all grew up in the EF, prefers SB to EF. Especially the peasants…I know they’re happy for democracy.
Granny: Meatloaf back home…what a (beep).

Of course everyone would prefer Storybrooke because of all the conveniences once they’d experienced them. The point is had they not experienced those conveniences, they wouldn’t have known any better and would’ve been happy in the EF. The dwarves were whining about going back to the EF in season 2 because they missed it. I’m sure Snow would’ve preferred to stay in EF and actually raise Emma.
