So maybe the whole of the EF was transported to the real world and it’s all under an illusion just like peoples’ memories? That would be a possible theory. I’d hate to think nothing was transported and it’s all an illusion but still in the EF.
However, several characters have mentioned wanting to leave SB and go to Boston…but that’s the only place they want to go. SB is in Maine, so why not Augusta? Or any other New England city? Or even Nova Scotia?
Also, if the EF is just one realm of the FTL, were others affected and transported too? Are they in SB or are they in neighboring communities? In SB, we’ve mainly seen the Perrault/Grimm fairy tales (with the exception of Pinocchio). Could there be ‘sister towns’ to SB, involving Anderson tales, Agrabah, Wonderland, etc?
Also, something else to consider – with the exception of Jefferson who apparently is a resident of the EF who goes to Wonderland, one character is from elsewhere and that’s the Genie who becomes trapped in the mirror and who’s from Agrabah. Other possible non-native EF residents would be Pinocchio, Gepetto, and Jiminy as “Pinocchio” is not a classic fairy tale. The whale may have brought Pinocchio and Gepetto to EF with Jiminy following. Just a thought.

One of the sneak peeks for this week is of Regina trying to convince Jefferson to make one last trip out of SB to retrieve something for her in FTL. I think we'll see how he travels between the two and whether FTL still exists after the curse was enacted.

In True North the Queen tells Hansel and Gretel that the Blind Witch stole the apple from her. I have always thought that Regina was just lying to the children to get them to go get the apple for her, but maybe Regina did get the apple from somewhere else and then it was stolen from her by the Blind Witch. I don’t really like the idea based on how Regina was acting in that scene, but it is still possible.
So in the next episode maybe Jefferson goes through to another land to get the apple. I would rather he went to fairytale land though just because i want to know if it is still there, but at least we will get some information about the other lands.

Yes in True North Regina said that the apple recovered was a weapon. It was “the apple”. So going to another world to recover the apple is not why they are going. Besides they look like they were dress as SB people not FTL people.

Oh, I misread that! I thought you were talking about when Regina convinced Jefferson to take her to Wonderland to get her father. 😆
I haven’t seen that anywhere in promos, but wow! That really will answer a lot of questions!!!

I think the writers only use Boston as a reference because it’s easier for someone from outside the US – like myself! – to recognize it. Not that people don’t know anywhere else in the US, but it makes it simpler, you know…
Also, I believe only August, Emma and Henry have been somewhere else, the rest can’t leave SB, isn’t it?
I’m still trying to figure out SB – the people being transported is ok, but the artefacts and things, what has being transported what has not??… For know, I think it’s a town in our world “created” by the curse. Maybe just former EFpeople can see it or be there or something much like those Harry Potter places, where you can only see when someone tells you about it.
And about Jefferson, I still think he went to SB, even though he was trapped in Wonderland, because he was originally from EF. I’m starting to think that Wonderland is used as some kind of a different dimension prison, and because of it, Jefferson was trapped in his house and etc.

That could be why the writers always use Boston, but there’s also New York City, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and other close by cities. Here’s something I just realized: Emma was living in Boston at the time Henry left Storybrooke to find her. Could the other SB residents be wanting to go there because they subconsciously want to be near the “savior” and so they think it’s a safe place?

May 6, 2012 at 1:41 am #145603hjbauParticipantIt is probably just because it is the nearest big city and because it is the city where Emma was and they could then show it and it be familiar.
May 6, 2012 at 2:05 am #145605arjay369ParticipantPersonally, I hope that’s not the case. I could understand if it was all like Kathryn’s case and everyone wanted to go to school and it’s the nearest educational center. But, IMHO, it’s lazy writing to have everyone want to go to the same place. Ah, well, I can only hope there is some importance to Boston. 😉
