As for Will “sniffing around” Belle, they made it clear that Will & Belle have at least been friends for a significant period of time (you know, inside of six weeks) with the coffee from Granny’s. Will asks for the regular, gets two cups of coffee with no questions, and Belle has one of them when the QoD stop by the shop.
But if that’s all the freakin’ history we get for this so-called ship, I’m gonna join RG in smashing things. You don’t destroy two of the most beautiful, complex relationships EVER like this with no foreshadowing. And there was none, outside of spoilers. NONE. The only time they have been in the same room in four seasons and a whole miniseries is when Belle called Emma to tell her there was a thief/vandal/trespasser passed out in her library.
I get that they want their drama and suspense. Fine. Explain it next episode by giving Will and Belle LOTS of screen time to explore what went wrong and why they might have any kind of interest in each other.
But they’ll never do that, because it’s Belle and she doesn’t get screen time outside of the rare Belle-centric. She’s not Hook, after all.

Like I posted there, he dies/sacrifices himself/curse lifted from TLK. We get our B&tB ending, TLK lifting Rumple’s spell, he dies a hero and Belle is left to live on with another relationship with Will. Ana is just collateral damage they’re willing reap since Wonderland didn’t get high ratings.
I’m not happy about it but I could definitely see this as a possibility for why they’re going with this pairing.

So…what if Rumple ruins Belle’s happy ending? Or Ana somehow ruins Will’s?
I wonder if they’ll touch on that concept with this.
And yes, I got a bit bitter in my last post. I apologize. I’m not happy about this ship for a number of reasons, even though I believe it won’t last.

I remember feeling as bewildered when they got back together in OUATIW as some are about Will/Belle now because, though I do believe Ana is capable of redemption – eventually (her biggest known transgressions are pretty minor by OUAT standards), I saw little evidence for change in the show. There was a lot of good talk and a lot of consequential suffering after ditching Jafar but, to me, her actions didn’t look so much like those of someone stepping up as they did of someone still running from a situation that didn’t go according to plan (and who wouldn’t be running as fast as they could from the likes of Jafar?). Particularly considering what Jabberwocky said about Ana’s fear of people finding out exactly who she is, I was lead to think it couldn’t be so easy for them and that there was more in store for her character. There’s always more to the fairytales in this show, isn’t there? As a fan of both, I want to see more of that process for Ana.
I like the new pairing. I anticipated it being at least a friendship-with-implications based on the literature but, I don’t anticipate it being endgame. Like the Will/Ana reunion, it’s too fast with too little to back it up. At the end of OUATIW we got a scene set most likely several years after these current OUAT S4 events where it’s implied they’re back together and King and Queen, ect. Adam and Eddy have said they’re interested in having Emma Rigby on the main show. So, why should this latest negate Will/Ana’s happy ending? Isn’t it more likely a set-up to (eventually) provide the story leading up to that flash-forward scene at the end of OUATIW?
I don’t know about you guys but, I’d really like to find out “exactly who she(Ana) is”. I think it’s interesting that we’ve got Mal (who resurrects repeatedly) in OUAT and Anastasia (whom the Nyx felt was meant for resurrection where Amara was not) in OUATIW. If/how the two could be connected, given the timeline, is anyone’s guess, though.

March 11, 2015 at 8:38 am #298186RumplesGirlKeymasterFor whatever reason, they wanted Will on the show
Or perhaps it was simply thinking “Hey, he’s the most popular character on our failed spinoff. Wouldn’t it be fun to randomly insert him on the main show?”
That’s my guess

Honestly, I think Jane misunderstood the tweet she was responding to. I don’t think she intended to mean after the 10 year time skip, but a little after Alice and Cyrus’ wedding.

Perhaps. But I can’t know the mind of a writer, just what she wrote in that tweet.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"March 11, 2015 at 11:01 am #298203PriceofMagicParticipantWhy this constant “sniffing around Belle” nonsense.
“Sniffing around” as in showing an interest of a romantic nature in someone they shouldn’t be showing a romantic interest in. It’s not about a character having free will or whatever. It’s about a character “sniffing around” another character when one or both of them have already been established as or considered as having a true love canon pairing. In the case of Will and Belle, both have been established as having a TL canon pairing Will= ScarlettQueen and Belle=RumBelle.
Further examples:
Robin was “sniffing around” Regina in 4A even though Marian (or “Marian” as it looks like the case might be) was right there turning into an icicle.
Hook was “sniffing around” Emma even though he knew Neal, aka Baelfire aka the boy Hook wanted to play father figure to, wanted to potentially rekindle his relationship with Emma.
Basically, a character “sniffing around” another character is pre-emptive of a love triangle. We are heading for a love triangle with Will/Belle/Rumple.
All magic comes with a price!
Keeper of FelixMarch 11, 2015 at 8:22 pm #298286nevermoreParticipantSo, I’m new to posting (though not new to the forums or OUAT, have been a lurker forever), but this seems like as good a thread as any to address what’s been done to the various couples. Actually, what prompted me to post is a comment that my niece made (I swear, that kid is scary smart for her age) — she and I have been watching OUAT together. Now, being the cool auntie, I get to answer the stompers… lucky me.
So here we are, watching Rumple disappear into the shadow when Will and Belle kiss, and the kiddo turns to me with a look for deep concentration and goes “So… is Rumple never going to have his happy ending because he’s poor?” I scratch my head, and say “Well, no, he’s only poor outside of Storybrooke.” So she looks at me like I’m thick, and goes “No, I mean because he started off poor.”
And then we get into a debate about whether all the characters on OUAT who don’t have an aristocratic background or birthright necessarily end up a) evil; b) crooked; c) dead; or d) largely irrelevant.
The only counterexample I could come up with was Ingrid, who was a princess. All the other villains, the kid kindly pointed out, had very humble beginnings, and were trying to get rich (now, we might say ‘rise above their station’). So, and here’s the stomper for you kind folks: did Rumbelle go off-rails because it’s technically a misalliance? Seriously, is OUAT just completely classist? Please prove me wrong 🙂
