ONCE UPON A TIME ABC / Season 3 returns Sun’, March 9 at 8 PM
”ln a lot of ways, we felt like the mid-season finale ended a chapter, and we wanted to begin a new one,” says co-creator and executive producer Edward Kitsis’ ”l guess the real question then becomes what happens in spring and what does it look like? What do we return to? As always, I think we’re excited to have the second half of the season be completely different from the first.”
”lt’s the same show but different. We are going to see the after effects of everything in that finale,” adds co-creator and executive producer Adam Horowitz’ ”We’re going [to] start a whole new story thread.’”. While the first part of the season was about belief and believing in yourself, ”the theme of the second part of the season, I would say, is home. What does that mean? ls it something we’re all looking for? How do you find it? How do you find something when you have it?” adds Kitsis.
”lt’s also about family, which is part of what the show has always been about,” says Horowitz’ ’And it’s about envy,” chimes in Kitsis’ ”The Wicked Witch is coming,” he teases’ Rebecca Mader has been cast as the Wicked Witch’ ”What we’re saying is, the second half of Sea- son 2 of Once is Evil Queen versus Wicked Witch,” says Horowitz.
Also, ”we’re going to do our own little spin on the Rapunzel story. Then again, one of the things we loved most about the first part of the season is that we really focused on our core characters The new people introduced, like Ariel and Tinkerbell, were put in in a way where they felt like a part of the world’ So we’re also excited to further explore the family, the Charmings, Regina, and everybody, and continue to tell their stories.”
It’s from a Sci-Fi Magazine blurb, April 2014

Good to have that laid out. I think a lot of us guessed that would be the theme
”lt’s also about family, which is part of what the show has always been about,
Always the biggest theme in the show
Also, ”we’re going to do our own little spin on the Rapunzel story.
I really hope she’s more than just filler.

I agree. “Believe a Lost Girl Can Find Her Way Home” is Emma’s S3 theme, and even though the plot is moving on from NL to Oz, the character’s arcs will continue to develop along those lines.

For some of our characters it’s easy to imagine Home. But for others it’s much more complex. I look forward to seeing how each character finds their way.February 7, 2014 at 6:07 pm #243685WickedRegalParticipant”lt’s also about family, which is part of what the show has always been about,” says Horowitz’ ’And it’s about envy,” chimes in Kitsis’ ”The Wicked Witch is coming,” he teases’ Rebecca Mader has been cast as the Wicked Witch’ ”What we’re saying is, the second half of Sea- son 2 of Once is Evil Queen versus Wicked Witch,” says Horowitz.

So the second half is about family…and then they immediately say ENVY!!! Then go into the Evil Queen and WWW battle…so yeah! That’s boldly saying WICKEDSISTERS! I cannot wait to rake in all of my cookies!

For a while there, I was a little on the fence, between possible dropped storylines, spoilers-that-shall-not-be-named and my own ambivalence toward the Wizard of Oz story…but the interviews they’re giving have definitely gotten me looking forward to March 9th again.
“Home,” A&E…you said it yourself! Relax with the over-the-top stuff and let’s focus on our core characters!

I think Belle is Rumple’s idea of home. Where she is now, home is. And I think one way or another, Belle will be the one to bring Rumple home.
I’m going to hold out and say the wedding at the end of the season is theirs.

Oh I agree……..they are home in each other’s arms. I hate to always complain, I try to be positive, but …….it’s so hard when they’ve been separated so long and now this…….and we hear nothing about Gold (I know he’s supposed to be dead, so we can’t expect to hear anything about him). I get a bit overanxious about Belle and so when she’s not mentioned, especially when I’ve been overtired, I freak out.
I certainly hope Belle saves Gold – though I’d prefer if he saves himself, his love for her overcoming the power of the dagger. I don’t think they are getting married anytime soon, certainly not this year, mostly because if they have their usual brief reunion at the end of the season, there won’t be any time for them to plan a wedding and also because a Rumbelle wedding would be a quiet affair, with very few people in attendance. I can’t imagine they’d want anyone other than Neal and Henry there, lol…I hope that if they have a real reunion, that we get an engagement at least…..but of course that’s contingent upon the writers actually deciding to write for them as a couple.
I LOVE the idea of home and family and that raises a question: what IS family? Yeah the Charmings and Rumple are connected via Henry, and they’ve both referred to themselves as family, but they don’t exactly act like family, particularly the Charmings to Belle (and they treat Regina far better than they treat Gold). Family to me is about bonds of love whether or not there is any blood connection. That includes friends, certainly. I sort of see Rumbelle has being a small family unit with Bae – and Henry. Neither Gold nor Belle really have friends, maybe except for Archie – and Grumpy to a lesser extent.
“There’s no place like home”…………..Dorothy found that out in the Wizard of Oz. She had all she needed with her friends and family – and maybe this is what the 2nd half will be about?
