“Once Upon a Time” broke our hearts in Season 5, when the show killed off Robin Hood (Sean Maguire) and erased any possibility of a resurrection.

Poor Regina (Lana Parrilla) lost the love of her life for a second time, and the ramifications of that loss are still showing themselves in this year’s season. Luckily, we will get to see Robin Hood again in Season 6, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed for some good scenes between the now star-crossed lovers.

Screener spoke with Maguire about his impending return to the show and what it will mean for the character of Robin as well as the still grieving Regina.

I suspect that Robin is going to play a big part in helping Regina to reunite herself with the EQ. Helping her to work through her grief and accept herself in her entirety (he fell in love with all of her, not just her light). It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

So much for A Robin Hood origin flashback :/ – unless Sean just doesn’t know about it yet.

To be honest, if they went the flashback route then they are further developing the character and I don’t think that would bring fans closure. It would just make them want to see even more of his story.  As they said, he is dead and death is one of the sure things that we all have to deal with in life. The best they can do now is really allow his death to have a deep and meaningful impact on the love of his life, and I think that they will really beef that up with his reappearance.
