I noticed how Rumple has straight hair in that photo like Mr. Gold but reptilian skin and eyes. What if Mr. Gold slowly starts to morph back into his crocodile appearance therefore becoming a “darker Dark One” like Robert said in his twitter party today? Then, he must battle twice as hard to keep that little bit of light in him that keeps him human. That is when Neal shows up again!

My biggest issue with it is that he’s not Green-Gold in NL. He’s supposed to be Mr. Gold with his Rumple suit. It doesn’t seem to fit.

I like that idea. It’s super creepy. But maybe Rumple has reached the lowest he can go, only up from here.

Rumple has always had a devious glint in his eye, but when he smirks, you can see some fun and cheekiness behind it. The smirk in this photo is a whole new deal. I look at his face in this pic and hear his voice saying, (deadpan, without his usual chipper air), “I’m coming to get you, Dearie,” and it gives me chills. There’s no conscience behind his expression in this photo. It’s all Dark One, no Rumplestiltskin.
And that probably fits with his journey in NL, because as far as he’s concerned, the games are over and this is his endgame, so conscience goes out the window and he embraces the Dark One completely.
I agree, Phee. You can hardly distinguish Rumple the man from the Dark One. For some reason, when I look at this photo, I think of Smeagol who became Gollum in LOTR.
