Once Upon a Time Season 3 doesn’t start production until July 12, but that doesn’t mean showrunners Adam Horowitz and Edward Kitsis aren’t already laying out the narrative framework for what will hopefully be another epic season. Which character will be getting a lot of play in Season 3?

“Plenty of Regina stuff being planned,” Adam tweeted yesterday. This may seem kind of obvious, given that Regina/The Evil Queen (Lana Parilla) has always been a focal point of the show, but there are so many characters and storylines floating around these days, we’ll gladly take any affirmation we can get. Plus, we’re still reeling from the excitement that she didn’t die in the Season 2 finale. (We’ll admit it. We thought she was a goner for a few minutes there.)
If anyone needs a refresher (it’s been days upon days), Regina finished Season 2 on board the Jolly Roger, bound for Neverland to rescue Henry. Her crewmates: Charming, Snow, Emma, Rumple, and Hook. Quite the crew, if you ask us. If you ask Adam, he says, “Just because you want the same thing, doesn’t mean you agree on the methods. And that’s going to be some of the drama there. Despite the fact that they all want to save Henry, they have a long and difficult history with each other that they need to deal with.”
We wonder if Regina will be making any further steps on Redemption Road following her self-sacrificial move in the Season 2 finale. We think it earned her some good will with the Charmings, but who knows how far that will go. After all, she did put the entire town in danger in the first place.

[adrotate group="5"]May 21, 2013 at 7:29 pm #195642RumplesGirlKeymasterThe Charmings won’t want to cause damage to NL or those being harmed, but Regina may take a different tactic. She may not have learned, at least fully, that sometimes magic isn’t the answer to everything.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 21, 2013 at 7:35 pm #195644HappyEndingsSpectatorI think Regina and Urusalla(sp) will team up, Regina still owes Rumple for killing her mother.
May 21, 2013 at 7:58 pm #195646RumplesGirlKeymasterHmm. I don’t know about the last part. If Regina did team up with someone like Ursula, it wouldn’t be to go after Rumple or even Snow. The focus is Henry. That is what unites them right now. I think Regina will have a whole different idea about how to save Henry from PP and that is what what will lead to conflict. I’m not saying that she isn’t upset over Cora still, of course she is. But that has been bypassed by the need to save Henry: it’s what brought them altogether in the first place.
And Regina knows that Rumple is still the Dark One. She cant do anything to him while he has his dagger."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"June 5, 2013 at 12:26 am #197258thelostpassengerParticipantThis news makes me very happy, as Regina is my favorite character. I, too, thought that she was a goner for a little while during the season 2 finale, and I was going to cry. I don’t mind Regina dying if that’s what needs to happen to fulfill her redemption story, but I don’t want that to happen until the very end of the series, if it does need to happen, because I don’t want a Once Upon a Time without her!
June 5, 2013 at 12:34 am #197259RumplesGirlKeymasterThe more I think about it, the more I doubt that they will ever kill off one of the core cast. This show is all about hope and redemption and I think, unlike LOST where sacrifice plays a big role, they’ll keep them all alive. I suspect Emma will die at some point, but she’ll come back to life, as savior figures are wont to do.

Yeah, me too, and that’s one of the things I like the most about this show: I don’t have to worry all that much about the characters that I love. 🙂

Several people have told me I ought to give Lost a try, but it just does not sound like a show I’d get into with so many deaths and unanswered questions and all.
