Ratings are in for episode 504 “The Broken Kingdom” Viewers: 4.85 million Demo: 1.6 We’re losing eyeballs, but the demo remains steady. However, if more eyeballs leave, the demo will start to drop again.
I honestly can’t see Once going beyond a season 6 at most. I think season 5 is it. As you said in an earlier post RG, we’re down to the loyal viewers, and Once is even starting to lose them. Once has lost it’s heart. It’s an empty shell of its former glory.
If Season 5B winds up being the Kings of Darkness like we think, there’s literally no more villains Adam and Eddy can use. They’re grandest and biggest villain could have been Chernabog, who is technically the most powerful villain in Disney Lore, but they used him up in one episode….there’d be absolutely no plot for Season 6.

It’s about the ratings, and right now ratings suggest there will likely be season 6. Personally, I think that every arc that comes after they defeat the Darkness will be very anti-climactic, espacially if they return to the random villains that appear out of nowhere for 9 episodes and then they are never seen again.

Yup that. S6 is actually a shoe-in right now. That CAN change if the demo bleeds between now and May but…ABC doesn’t want to lose too many dramas and Blood and Oil, Castle, and Nashville are all on the chopping block.

Well, Adam and Eddy are gonna have to think of one heck of a twist that will at least make Season 6 somewhat interesting. If Kings of Darkness are Season 5B, whose left unless they bring back in Chernabog.

No idea how that would work, though.
October 19, 2015 at 11:23 pm #310387onceaholicParticipantI can’t see it going beyond season 5, but if there is to be a season 6, it would be nice to see
-Science vs magic picked up again
-Reasons why our land is ”without magic” or has residual magic that people have forgotten about
-Reasons why RH and EQ can exist together in the same world at the same time, (and be born at roughly the same time) even though they were ”known about” by the people of LWM at different points in our history
-Reasons why we the people of the LWM know about these characters, and at different points in our history.
-Reul Ghorm, the original magic?
-How/why these magical realms were created (which could be tied to answering the last two).
…It would be great if season 6 was existential, and and got right down to the core concepts of the show …..oooh and…..
-Perhaps a restoration or addition of magic to our world.
-Everybody going on a big fat world tour before heading back to a modernized FTL.

For the selected above questions I offered this theory elsewhere that I think really works:
THEORY: The Author records and spreads the stories to generate belief. Magic runs on belief. Magical realms run on magic. If belief is gone those worlds will cease to exist. Its like the “God Needs Prayers” trope. Something similar happened in the Kingdom Keepers book series about the kids at Disney world who had to fight the Disney villains. Every child making wishes and believing every night at Disney world actually brought the characters to life. If its the same thing in OUAT, if they don’t tell the stories people will not believe in magic and these worlds will never be.
Merlin is a prophet. And so was Rump. And we know the future is never truly what it seems. That explains a lot. Merlin foretold things of the future for certain stories and told them in advance to certain people who passed the stories down. The details were not exact and of course they got changed a lot too as they were passed down but eventually the stories came true as he foretold. The Author records the true events as they occur.I think its a sound theory.

Yes, I have a similar theory that I came up with during the summer break between season 2 and 3, inspired by 1) the Neverending Story and 2) Wendy telling stories to the Lost Boys in the original Peter Pan and 3) Sophie’s World
I would like the writers to actually provide answers to my questions, however. I don’t want to just theorize, and it would make a great short season 6 😉

October 20, 2015 at 5:23 am #310402kranenParticipantIn regards to not having any villains for Season 6 (if the Kings of Darkness are used for 5B), there is an easy way for them to fix that.
IF 5B is the Underworld, all of the past villians will be there. The 5B cliffhanger could be them all escaping and coming back. And then Season 6 can be the final battle that Rumple predicted in the pilot.

No change in the demo, only a slight uptick in overall eyeballs.
