I think Black’s Law (the working title for now), the next Shonda show currently in development, is being built as such a potential replacement.
Yes, that was my first thought as well. They’ll have to flex it somewhere else while Scandal runs its 7th season. If The Catch is cancelled after this year, they could make it HTGAWM spring replacement airing at 10 and then move it in to 9pm once Scandal is over.
However, just because it’s Shonda doesn’t guarantee that it’ll be a hit. The Catch was also a Shonda show made to fill in the void for HTGAWM during the Spring, and it’s underperformed both Seasons they’ve tried it.
That’s true but ABC has a weird relationship with Shonda shows. Even if it underperforms, they renew it with the hope that it’ll catch on (probably because of what happened with Scandal during its second and third season where the ratings went up as opposed to down from its first). I think the only Shonda show to not get a second season is Off The Map which ended its run with a 1.3 (man how TV standards have dropped…)

I think we’ll keep the .8 from last week. I think the half hours from this week will be worth really looking at, though.

I think either we stay at a 0.8, or we go back up to a 0.9. Pretty much every network show was down last week because of the Academy of Country Music Awards, Walking Dead finale, Wrestlemania, etc. Little Big Shots dropped by 4 tenths, Chicago Justice by 1 tenth, Shades of Blue by 1 tenth, Bob’s Burgers by 1 tenth, The Simpsons by 1 tenth, Making History by 1 tenth, and Last Man on Earth by 1 tenth. OUAT and other shows went up the week after that week last year as well.

Half hours were 0.8/0.7, and oddly enough its lead-in AFV also crumbled to a 0.7. Easter next Sunday is sure to be even more brutal. Ouch. I have to say the ratings are making the show’s case for a renewal even harder now.

That is really disappointing, although not surprising after last weeks episode. That being said, I don’t know how we managed to lose viewers halfway through with an episode like this? If this episode can’t keep hold of people then I don’t know what will.
April 10, 2017 at 4:51 pm #335792RumplesGirlKeymasterOof! Did not see that coming, honestly. Big question: where is our ratings floor?
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 10, 2017 at 4:55 pm #335793Bar FarerParticipantProbably 0.6 next week.
Then it’ll be 0.7-0.8 for the rest of the season."All your questions are pointless"

I think that sounds about right
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"April 10, 2017 at 5:19 pm #335795RainbowParticipantThe question is, if they do get 0.6 next sunday and for the remain of the season they get btw 0.7 and 0.8, how does that makes next season, where they won`t get half of the cast most viewers are used to seeing on the show?
Even if S7 is really last season and they get half season, would be wise for ABc to renew a show that with the numbers of ratings they are having now, with 0.8/0.7 and possibly 0.6 demo, putting in risk the show, where they may even have to take it of air after some epis, bc the ratings may drop even more?Or should they simply start saying now that this is last Season?
"I offended you with my opinion? Ha, you should hear the ones I keep to myself".
