Amen. If this finale feels at all like there isn’t some sort of definitive conclusion, I’m going to be so mad.

My biggest worry is with Andrew J West and Alison Fernandez. If they are supposed to be the two characters helping to launch the show in 7, if there is a show in 7, then their introduction and whatever mystery/plot they bring with them is going to be unresolved There’s no way for something to not feel unresolved with that.

My thoughts exactly RG. I may be happy overall with the resolution for our mains, but it always bugs me when they introduce new characters and then don’t resolve things, no matter how “minor” the characters are.

Very true.  But if they introduce an adult Henry let’s say, it won’t feel like a completely new character so I’ll feel better about it as long as the other characters get some sort of resolution.

ABC has started their renewals and cancellations. They renewed Modern Family for 2 Seasons, which is the first time I’ve seen ABC give any show a multi-Season renewal since ever. They also cancelled Last Man Standing, which was reportedly getting too expensive for a show they don’t own. Both shows are produced by FOX, so I imagine the 2 decisions may have gone hand in hand.

A safe renewal and a safe cancellation up first, then.

LMS actually wasn’t a safe cancellation. It was considered a shock, since many predictions had it as certain to be renewed. It still did pretty well, ratings wise. However, it became too expensive for a show that ABC doesn’t own. Especially with Tim Allen’s salary. Plus, I guess they wanted more slots to launch new comedies, since Sundays are clearly out with Idol happening.

ABC sneakily confirmed that Black-ish was renewed via a voice over during its Season finale end credits. ABC similarly confirmed How to Get Away with Murder Season 2 in a similar manner a few years ago. This was one of the obvious renewals.

    Another sign towards a renewal:

Actually that’s not a sign. Just cause it’s scheduled to start filming doesn’t mean it will. Castle was scheduled to start filming and was cancelled at the last minute. The same thing can happen to OUAT S7.

With the way this is playing out it’s almost identical to Castle. Only difference is JMO chose to leave whereas Stana was fired. When you’re losing this many cast members it’s time to hang up the belt.

About modern family, they were in cast negotiations , bc abc wanted to reduce the budget and wanted to cut on cast salary, but the cast had negotiations with fox to rise their salaries, so that was something of a thing there, means that they got through and decided to renew the show for several seasons in a row to avoid having to negotiate with cast every season.
