While that’s true, S1 and S2 are miles apart in terms of ratings and ad buys than S6. It was safer to have a messed up schedule because the viewers came back in droves and the ad buyers saw that. But a messed up schedule like that now (with ratings being what they are) isn’t going to help the network. However, there is historical evidence that leaving OUAT off the air for several months and then bringing it back midseason works for the show–steady ratings at the least. Look at the ratings for the back half of any season after we went to splits.

I don’t think this has anything to do with any sort of final season hurrah. I think we’re getting renewed for a S7 in large part because ABC can’t cancel everything even though the numbers for multiple shows would mean the axe only a few years ago.

Not to mention, that scheduling actually didn’t work out for Season 2. We saw significant drops when it had to go up
against the Golden Globes, NFL championship game and the Grammys that year:

    210 – 3.1
211 – 2.8 (Up against the Golden Globes)
212 – 2.4 (Up against the NFL championship game)
    213 – 2.2 (Up against the Grammys)

The ratings dropped by almost a full point from 210 to 213. This was a factor that led them to creating the Split-Season scheduling for Season 3. While Season 1 managed to do just fine against those events, that was when the show was considered “much watch TV”. Viewer interest had already started to decline throughout Season 2, so the scheduling didn’t do any favors.

Quantico is moving to Mondays starting January 23rd. Wonder how this will effect the Sunday schedule for the Spring?:

Quantico is not long for this world, then. I’d wager ABC is trying to stabilize their Sunday nights.

Tonight’s promo finally confirmed that we won’t return until March, as we’ve been theorizing for a while now. Still no specific date, but March 5th, the Sunday after the Oscars, is the most likely.

Agreed. Good to (finally!) know. So this means 11 straight weeks, right?

Unless we have an additional 2 hour episode other than the finale, then yeah. This would include airing on Easter Sunday again.

ABC just announced that the Billboard Music Awards are airing on May 21st, so the Season finale pretty much has to be on May 14th. Too early to confirm if it’ll be a 2 hour finale, but considering they only have 11 weeks to air 12 episodes, it’s a very safe bet.

So it looks like MatthewPaul’s March 5th spring premiere prediction is correct! 🙂

So Faran Tahir has basically confirmed on Twitter that the return date is indeed March 5th. He says that 6×14 is airing on March 26th.

    So:

    6×11 – Tougher than the Rest – March 5th.
    6×12 – Murder Most Foul – March 12th.
    6×13 – Ill-Boding Patterns – March 19th.
    6×14 – Page 23 – March 26.

Just a reminder that the schedule thread is in the non-spoilers section of the forum, so please make sure to use spoiler tags when needed. But yeah, it’s interesting that Faran Tahir would say the airdate for 614, unless they’re just guessing themselves?
