We inched back up to a 0.5:
Once Upon a Time … 0.533
Agents of SHIELD … 0.568
20/20 … 0.613MacGyver … 0.909
Hawaii Five-0 … 0.946
Blue Bloods …0.954Blindspot … 0.643
Taken … 0.505
NBC News special … 0.494MasterChef Junior … 0.178
9-1-1 (r) … 0.465Dynasty … 0.178
Jane the Virgin … 0.22318-49 viewing levels (22.5)
There were preemptions last night because of college basketball, but I think we’ll still keep our 0.5, based on these unroundeds.

I think that’s going to be typical of the rest of the season–slight fluctuations but staying around a .5/.4

Yeah, I think we’re really down to the most hardcore audience now. Even with Daylight Savings approaching, I’m not expecting too drastic of a drop going forward. I’m guessing a big reason why we were down to a 0.4 last week was because the big Nor Easter’ storm on the East Coast resulted in a ton of homes without power or their TV service was down. Not to mention, awareness for its return was down, as ABC didn’t promote it at all. They have a ton of new Mid-Season shows this Spring, so they’ve been really stingy with which shows they promote recently.

March 12, 2018 at 4:47 pm #345883RumplesGirlKeymasterEven though we’ve been cancelled and the ratings don’t exactly matter, I was curious if the ABC gambit of picking up AI and moving it to our old time slot of Sunday at 8 (carried over into 9pm) would pay off….
A 2.1 in the first block of time and a 2.4 in second block.
I really have no idea what ABC was hoping for (ie: is that a success, soft, or a total bust) but the drama that followed (Deception) lost a full demo point and did a 1.3 so if ABC was also hoping that an AI lead in would give them another hit drama this year, I don’t think that’s gonna happen.

A 1.3 at 10pm would normally be seen as good, but this was Deception’s series premiere, and its retention from Idol was awful. Especially in unroundeds:
AF Home Videos ……………… 1.096 … (1.005 … 1.187)
American Idol ………………….. 2.261 … (2.016 … 2.234 … 2.417 … 2.376)
Deception ……………………….. 1.253 … (1.444 … 1.062)Deception lost almost 4 tenths between half hours. I predict it will further crash in the coming weeks, and be another dud for ABC. Warner Bros. dramas on ABC for some reason seem to be cursed, upon research. In the past 30 years, the majority were cancelled after only 1 Season, or got 2 Seasons at the very most.ABC has other upcoming drama premieres with For the People, Station 19, and The Crossing.
I predict For the People is going to flop, as it appears to have little buzz, is in the infamous Tuesday 10pm deathslot, doesn’t have its Shondaland companions on TGIT to help it, has a weakened Black-ish as its lead-in for its premiere, and its premiere is going right up against the premiere of NBC’s Rise, which will have the This Is Us finale as its lead-in. Station 19, on the otherhand, I think could work. It’s another Grey’s spinoff, and will have said mother show as its lead-in. The Crossing seems like another Lost wannabee that will easily bomb.

Peaking back in on this…
Series premiere for “For The People”: .8 in the demo/ 3.22 million eyeballs. Black-ish did a .9/.8 so while you can make the argument that FtP kept its audience that’s still pretty bad for a series premiere. Rather DoA, honestly. Wonder if it’ll be pulled off air after a few episodes.
However, the NBC “Rise” premiere also crashed pretty hard, coming in with a 1.2 after “This Is Us”‘s 2.8 and this was despite the immense amount of promotion that went into the new series.
Another whiff for ShondaLand? For the People bows to an anemic 3.22 million viewers and a 0.8 in the demo. If ratings don't miraculously improve, this will be the studio's third straight bust, following The Catch and Still Star-Crossed.

0.8 for a series premiere screams dead on arrival. I don’t think it’ll be pulled, though, unless it starts doing 0.4s, which is typically around where ABC pulls new drama flops. Curious to see how Deception holds this Sunday, and then next Thursday is the premiere of Grey’s spinoff Station 19.
