Every year AdAge puts out a very fun chart that tracks how much money network TV shows get on average for commercials that air during the show. The numbers are finally up for 2017 and here’s how OUAT stands compared to 2016.
http://adage.com/article/news/tv-ad-pricing-chart/310429/
2017: $81,105
2016: $109,410
That’s quite a drop likely due to S6’s ratings and the move to Friday for S7. It’s also now one of the lowest ad share shows at ABC (and the lowest drama).
That was expected, i believe Adam even said after s6 was renewed that the reason why they got the renew was due to the big Netflix deal of the show, so is likely that ABC doesn`t even care much about the adds and ratings, as long as the show is popular on netflix.
Right. I would think enough people would want to catch up and at least “finish” the series for S6. If they’re really putting that much stock in Netflix popularity, that could mean at least a Season 8, if S7 maintains moderate ratings.

A big thing is definitely the Friday move, as if you look at all the other Friday shows on all networks, none of them have adrates over 97,000:
Inhumans (ABC) – 96,770
Agents of SHIELD (ABC) – 94,921
Hell’s Kitchen (FOX) – 94,507
Blindspot (NBC) – 90,846
Hawaii Five-0 (CBS) – 87,302
Blue Bloods (CBS) – 83,319
OUAT (ABC) – 81,105
Taken (NBC) – 77,839
MacGyver (CBS) – 76,143
20/20 (ABC) – 63,400
Dateline NBC (NBC) – 52,871
The Exorcist (FOX) – 50,546
Jane the Virgin (CW) – 21,143
Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (CW) – 14,371Interesting observation is that AoS has a higher adrate than OUAT. I guess advertisers have more faith in AoS, since it’s not going through a reboot, and it’s part of the Marvel brand.

Edward Kitsis made a dig that nobody watched wonderland so I cannot wait for people to bring up that Wonderland had better ratings and more viewers then their reboot.

If they asked me I always thought ouat should probably ending things with perhaps 3 season or 5 season story arch. However they are going for a 7th. I honestly don’t expect them to get an 8th or really want to go for an 8th. Going to enjoy the season 7 because its always fun with new takes, and of course there is my Disney Queen B Tiana but beyond that???. I’m not sure how far they will go beyond this season. I simply view this see as a one season mini series. I bet the cast and creators will probably be okay with simply that, at least the senior cast might be.

October 4, 2017 at 12:47 pm #342366MatthewPaulModeratorNew drama Kevin (Probably) Saves the World debuted to a 1.0. Far below The Good Doctor’s, but not in any immediate danger yet.

The Good Doctor also snagged a full season order
I liked tGD (big fan of Freddie Highmore and Richard Schiff) but I do admit that it’s a “DVR and watch when I can show”

It managed to remain even with the 2.2 from last week, so it’s already doing better than Designated Survivor did last year. Especially since it built 0.8 from Dancing with the Stars, which never happens with any other 10pm show they’ve aired there. I don’t think even Castle managed to do so. I liked the show too, but I wonder how long it can hold its viewers for. Also, note that the backorder is only up to 18, so it’s getting the Empire/TIU treatment, instead of the typical 22.

Smart. Honestly, the 18-episode seasons are a good move on the part of the writers/studios/networks. It’s not exactly revolutionary that holding an audience captive for a full 22 is difficult (OUAT has its share of filler episodes). Kinda hoping we see more of this from networks.

I love a simple 10 to 12 story arch. I mean stranger things had all of 8 I believe and it was wonderful. I think shows try to stretch it out for 22 episodes and it ends up boring or dragging on after awhile.
