Yeah that’s like the most unclear statement on this yet
I actually just ran into one of the creators the other night,” she said, referring to either Edward Kitsis or Adam Horowitz. “They’ve gone seven years, that’s a long time. But there are a couple of cast members coming back for the final, final season. They keep calling it the final season, but it’s just going to keep on going.”

Because they’ve claimed “final season” before? I don’t know… o_O
May 17, 2017 at 8:48 pm #338964MichaelBlockedWell it’s definitely be the final due to the horrendous ratings it’s gonna get I imagine. Hope they don’t manage to tick off their remaining fanbases with this stupid curse crud.
I don’t think they’re gonna wreck the last 6 years just delay the villains happy endings an unnecessary season more.

I think a Season 8 is very possible for several reasons, some of which others have already mentioned:
– With the show moving to Friday’s the ratings threshold for cancellation is lower now.
– Many people catch up on their DVR’ed shows on the weekends so the Live +3 ratings may improve – something the networks put much more stock in than before.
– It was revealed part of the decision to renew the show was based on its high viewings on Netflix. This very well may continue, especially if people want to see the conclusion for the storyline of S1-6, especially for the exiting cast members.
– With a largely new cast and writers, the show may regain its freshness and creativity and gain a bigger following again.
Yes, the season may completely tank, but it also may not. We literally won’t know until next season airs. I want to focus on the fact that we DO get a S7 at all. My goal, and I think the goal of many on this forum is to hope for the best and have fun predicting what next season will look like. Let’s keep this forum a positive, uplifting community! 🙂

Just to get TVGrim Reaper’s word on this:
For panicked fans of “headed to Friday” shows, Fri ratings of up to 30% lower than other nights seem “good enough” for broadcast nets.

If OUAT keeps pulling between .7-.9, then S8 is actually not entirely crazy.

You of all people should know that is literally impossible don’t you?
OUAT ratings NEVER increase. The only time it did was because of the Frozen frenzy. Every year it consistently drops . It will not stay at a 0.9-0.7 range all season, that is completely unrealistic. Especially cause that was the ratings range this season. And it only got a 0.9 because people wanted to say goodbye to the cast they loved.
If they do things that will completely piss off the viewership they do have and then they can probably kiss their ratings goodbye and OUAT’s legacy will be “just stop at 6, don’t go further”
To think that they’re gonna stay in the same range of ratings as this season is completely unrealistic. Just look at the ratings trend for this show after Frozen frenzy, it never has increased significantly.
My prediction is they’ll hit a .6 or .5 by Winter break. That’s not realistic because the GA on FB and also on many articles said S6 finale was there series finale and that’s the big reaction on FB.
The S7 pitch has not been met with positivity anywhere in the GA and on social media, especially when news broke out of how many people were leaving.

Given that I monitor the ratings like a hawk every year for 6 years, yes I do. But I’m not going to discount 1) the possibility and 2) the fact that Friday is such a weird day in general for TV that even something I might think is too low (.6) might be okay for ABC given the other facts that @ry4christ points out (Netflix is the biggest one. That seems to be quite a big factor)
OUAT ratings NEVER increase
And this isn’t true either. They bounce. They’ve dipped to a .7 and then rebounded, and then dropped by one, and then rebounded for a finale. Do I think it’s possible it’ll do the same next year? Sure. Do I think it’ll go a bit lower (.6) and then keep moving up and down like a yo-yo? Yes. Because that’s what happens every year.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 17, 2017 at 9:55 pm #338973MichaelBlockedI think it’ll get to a .5 by Winter. I would say that about goes with the range of this show. It got a .9 on a farewell episode I mean come on.
Not many people care about this show anymore. It’s long past it’s glory days, and now with an even smaller cast, the ratings will be even more abysmal.
And if they manage to piss off the small audience it does already have then that’s probably also not gonna boast well for the ratings. Plus that Netflix thing might not do well either of the season manages to be terrible.
Just remember at that time on a Friday night the majority of people especially families are not at home watching TV.
Also if we do get another season I fully expect Colin, Lana, and Robert will be out and they’ll focus completely on the new characters. I don’t at all expect we will get another season whatsoever
May 17, 2017 at 9:58 pm #338974ry4christParticipantT.V. Show renewal isn’t an exact science though. Sometimes networks renew shows just because they like them despite low ratings. With DVR, streaming services, and international broadcast deals, there are just too many factors to definitively state the show won’t be renewed for a Season 8. The decision to cancel or not is a whole year from now. We just have to wait and see.
