One final review post, eh? As is tradition, answer the questions and tell us what you thought of season 7b (episodes 7×11-7×22)
1) What was your favorite episode of S7B?
2) What was your least favorite episode of S7B?
3) What was your favorite/least favorite moment of S7B?
4) We didn’t really meet any new characters in S7B but overall, which character who hadn’t appeared in S1-6 did you most enjoy? And which one did you not enjoy at all?
5) If you could change anything about S7B what would it be?
6) Did OUAT deserve another year? Or was it right to cancel it now?
7) Final Grade/Ranking for S7B?

Leaving Storybrooke, for sure. It really was a great finale.
Runner up: The Guardian (7×18)
2) What was your least favorite episode of S7B?
Flower Child (7×19)–what an absolutely appalling episode
Runner Up: Secret Garden (7×11)
3) What was your favorite/least favorite moment of S7B?
Everything Alice and Robin; Rumple’s sacrifice; Henry breaking the curse with Regina after he phoned home and talked to himself.
Least favorite: anything to do with Hansel and the Candy Killer.
4) We didn’t really meet any new characters in S7B but overall, which character who hadn’t appeared in S1-6 did you most enjoy? And which one did you not enjoy at all?
Alice! Sign me alllll the way up for a series about her and Robin.
Ella never grew on me. One of the smartest decision the writers made was to keep her out of the way in the second half.
5) If you could change anything about S7B what would it be?
Less plot, more character. A thing I say almost every year. The good stuff is what happens between the characters. The plot nonsense of Gothel and Facilier was ridiculous and a waste of valuable time.
6) Did OUAT deserve another year? Or was it right to cancel it now?
It was time. Trying to go on another year would have really stretched the narrative capabilities.
7) Final Grade/Ranking for S7B?
A solid B

Leaving Storybrooke…it was a beautiful wrap up and held some of that old classic OUAT Charm!
Runner Up: 6×20 “Is This Henry Mills?”
My emotions skyrocketed through the roof with this one because it hit home on my RegalBeliever Feels!
2) What was your least favorite episode of S7B?
7×07 Eloise Gardener….I can barely remember this episode but I know I pretty much held such disdain for it! LOL!
Runner Up: 7×19 Flower Child….I literally watched Mother Gothel all season, and just couldn’t take her seriously enough as a threat! I halfway think Wish Rumple could have been the Antagonist for all of Season 7 and it would’ve made more sense!
3) What was your favorite/least favorite moment of S7B?
Favorite Moment: My favorite moment is Henry breaking the curse and then Regina reading the letter that Young Henry sent her as we get that beautiful montage of the reunion taking place.
Runner Up Favorite Moment: Seeing Rumple finally reunite with Belle after dying a true hero!
Least Favorite Moment: Anything with that god awful Dr. Facilier & Regina romance they tried selling us.
4) We didn’t really meet any new characters in S7B but overall, which character who hadn’t appeared in S1-6 did you most enjoy? And which one did you not enjoy at all?
Most Enjoy: ALICE! Hands down Alice! Alice was the best thing to happen to OUAT in the last several seasons and I thoroughly enjoyed not only her personal journey but her romantic tale with Robyn! Alice was truly one of the bright saving graces of this season and I only wish she had somehow arrived on the scene earlier!
Least Enjoy: It’s gotta be between Gothel and Facilier….neither one just really did anything for me.
5) If you could change anything about S7B what would it be?
Sweet Oz, where do I even start?! LOL!!! Understandable that we couldn’t have all the original cast back, but we could’ve really used more Zelena. I would change all of Henry’s situation with being married to Cinderella and all that terrible extra, the only good that came out of that was Lucy. Definitely would’ve given Henry a stronger storyline…would’ve made more value of Hansel…focused on more believable threats like a Wish Realm Maleficent rather than Mother Gothel…and would’ve given Regina a far superior love story than Dr. Facilier.
Technically speaking….both Regina and Zelena could have fallen in love with two mortals, and seeing how that play out would have been far more interesting than her “walk of shame” from Facilier.
6) Did OUAT deserve another year? Or was it right to cancel it now?
It was without a doubt time to write “The End” on this series. It was a beautiful seven years, but we’ve had our fun, we’ve made our memories, and we’ll always have them! It was a good wrap up!
7) Final Grade/Ranking for S7B?
It was better than the first half without a doubt, and was a good enough wrap up for the series!
Ranking: 8.4/10
Final Grade: B

It’s a shame they tied him romantically to Regina; given that Wish Rumple ended up being the final villain, Facilier should have been stripped of the nonsense romance stuff and introduced much earlier to parallel the him and Wish Rumple and their quest for the dagger.

Beauty
>2) What was your least favorite episode of S7B?
As far as I can remember…Flower Child
>3) What was your favorite/least favorite moment of S7B?
I loved the ‘UP’ sequence where Rumple and Belle were living out there happy quiet lives.
Least favorite? Can I just say ‘Wish realm’ and leave it at that?
>4) We didn’t really meet any new characters in S7B but overall, which character who hadn’t appeared in S1-6 did you most enjoy? And which one did you not enjoy at all?
I loved Alice of course and I’ll give a nod to Gothel as well. Minus some of the utter silliness in ‘Flower Child’, she was actually quite entertaining as a villain.
Cinderella was my least favorite.
>5) If you could change anything about S7B what would it be?
Oh my changes would go back a lot further than 7B.
>6) Did OUAT deserve another year? Or was it right to cancel it now?
It probably would’ve been better if they’d canceled it after season three… ‘er …six.
>7) Final Grade/Ranking for S7B?
C- for plot
F for timeline clarity
B for new characters (again Alice, Gothel and to an extent Facile were great but all the Cinderella people were sub par minus maybe Ivy)
May 26, 2018 at 8:42 am #347572FelieParticipant1) What was your favorite episode of S7B?
Girl in the tower
2) What was your least favorite episode of S7B?
Flower child
3) What was your favorite/least favorite moment of S7B?
Fave –
Any Alice/Robin scenes, and Alice/Nook scenes (including their cursed personas’ interactions).
Alice saved herself.
Nook sacrificing/being prepared to sacrifice everything for his daughter
Alice being able to see through the ‘fog’ of the curse
Least fave –
any Ella/Old Henry stuff. This romance was so underwhelming istg
Dr. Facillier’s wasted potential
The ease with which Gothel was defeated
4) We didn’t really meet any new characters in S7B but overall, which character who hadn’t appeared in S1-6 did you most enjoy? And which one did you not enjoy at all?
Alice! Alice! Alice!!! And Tilly
Rose Reynolds did such an amazing job with both Alice and Tilly. I’m actually really gutted they didn’t have her any sooner or won’t be able to take her further
5) If you could change anything about S7B what would it be?
Ho boy! This one’s getting it’s own post!
6) Did OUAT deserve another year? Or was it right to cancel it now?
I don’t think OUAT needs another season, but Alice and Robin need a spin-off for sure
7) Final Grade/Ranking for S7B?
With the exception of a couple of well rounded newly introduced characters I think this season barely made an impression on me – 7/10… though ‘disappointed’ is too strong a word, so I guess: underwhelmed but not surprised

Let us begin.
My very first change would be at the end of 6B –
no Lucy, no adult Henry. It would have ended with a portal opening in SB before a white rabbit hops through, followed by a mysterious cloaked figure.
Season 7A would not have Older Henry, Lucy, or this version of Cinderella. Their whole romance was boring and the actors had zero chemistry. Instead, Alice would come to Storybrook looking for a cure for her father’s poisoned heart. She would meet Henry and season 7A would have been about our Henry going to FTL to find his own adventure and help Alice cure her father. And although I HATE the whole time nonsense, I would have to find a way for Robin to age up, because I need Madarcher in my life and on my screen (perhaps Alice and Henry try messing with time to stop her father getting poisoned in the first place but instead end up in future Storybrook?)
Henry should have had adventures with these girls and the portal-opening rabbit, their back stories should have been slowly revealed, they should have revisited lots of different realms, and Nook should have been introduced, along the reveal of Gothel as the Big Bad/Alice’s mother. I would have kept Alice as the girl in the tower (I actually thought having a baby to break blood magic was a genius solution to Gothel’s problem! Albeit kinda evil…), along with the plot of Belle dying and Rumple trying to find a way back to her through means of the Guardian.
Gothel should have been the last surviving magical being from what is now the land without magic, after humans slaughtered all the magical creatures – her motive for wanting to end all human life in the LWOM and repopulate it with magical creatures from FTL. Season 7A should have ended with Alice saving her mother by showing her that she was not alone anymore, and that her people were not dead as long as they both were alive. Gothel should have been offered redemption after witnessing the genocide of her people, not condemnation. Season 7A’s finale scene should have been Henry waking up on the streets of Hyperion Heights as a homeless youth with one friend – local ‘crazy girl’ Tilly.
I would have had the cursed personas the same as far as Rumple, Nook, Zelena, and Regina are concerned. Their mission would be to break the curse Drizella put on them. I would like to explore a ‘what if Wish Rumple tried the curse again but with a different witch’ scenario. The key to breaking the curse lies with Alice, who can remember everything, as long as she’s off her pills. Henry breaks the curse by kissing his mother’s forehead and everyone goes back home, but Wish Rumple isn’t done yet.
I liked the idea Wish Rumple had to separate all the characters into different realms, and really liked the scene where Nook won’t let go of Alice even though it was killing him. I think Rumple should have had flashbacks to him letting go of Neil, and that this should be the reason Rumple gives his heart to a dying Nook, not the whole bad bromance thing. Rumple dies and gets reunited with Belle AND NEIL(!!), while Wish Rumple is stripped of his power and sent to another dimension after Alice – who was the Guardian all along – breaks his dagger.
The series should have ended with the whole cast in Storybrooke, with Henry telling a stunned Emma, Hook, Snow, and David all about his adventures before another portal opens up in Granny’s. Ending scene:
Henry: “That’s my cue. I’ll be back in time for Christmas. Wouldn’t want to miss her first, after all” looks down at baby Hope
everyone says goodbye to Henry as he walk through the portal where on the other side Alice, Robin, Nook, the rabbit, and perhaps a newly redeemed Drizella are waiting for him so they can start a new adventure
Emma too quiet for anyone to really hear: “Have fun kid”
portal closes behind Henry as he waves to his family in the cafe
It’s a good close, but also leaves the possibilities open for a spin-off.

"there’s lesbians in it"May 26, 2018 at 10:36 am #347575RumplesGirlKeymasterYa’know…it’s weird. But a few years ago I swore off any A and E project after OUAT but if it was a Robin/Alice spin off….I’d be there with bells on.

Same.
Alice was undoubtedly the best thing this show has done since season 2, imo at least.
Both Alice and Robin were underutilized, the Nook/Alice and Robin/Zelena relationships still had a ton of millage, and Alice’s powers weren’t explored nearly enough for my liking. All these things can be further explored in a spin-off that focuses on just them, or a small band of female characters might be a cool idea too.
Though if they did do a spin-off I’d have to ask them to leave Older Henry, New Cinderella, and Lucy out of it. God that whole family was just so insipid.
P.S. does anybody know if A + E wrote for the Alice and Robin characters, or did they get another writer to handle them? Because I feel that, in the case of Alice/Tilly at least, she had a different feel about her compared to any characters we’ve seen before.

It’s hard to know what A and E interject into all the stories, even if other writers are the credited creators of any particular episode.
But for Alice/Robyn they can be credited for:
–The Eighth Witch (which introduced Robin and Alice’s relationship, right before the Curse took them)
–Secret Garden (which only featured Robin)
–Flower Child (which featured both characters but was more about Gothel)
–Leaving Storybrooke
The main Alice and Alice/Robin stories were:
–The Girl in the Tower (Dana Horgan and Leah Fong)
–The Guardian (David H Goodman and Brigitte Hales
