Yeah. I think that Charming and Snow are King and Queen of their kingdom by the point of Emma’s birth. Midas is a separate kingdom. They seem to be more like city states.

Snow did say in the pilot when the Evil Queen crashed her wedding, ‘She’s not a Queen anymore!’ So I think when Snow married James, she automatically became Queen. That was my feeling anyway.

Since we didn’t know about King George at that point, maybe there was a coup d’état to de-thone George and hand over his power to James.

You mean coup d’état? I think I agree with that. Especially as we still need to see Snow and the dwarves storm the castle to get Charming out of there. 🙂 Additionally, there’s just no sight of King George at all in the castle scenes when Charming&Snow are living there. He’s probably locked up or somewhere with Regina (though we don’t see him with her either) …

Yes, that’s what I meant. Couldn’t find the right spelling .

I don’t really understand why Snow isn’t Queen already. Her father died and she is the heir. The throne should have gone from her father to her and had nothing to do with Regina. Regina would just be like the Queen mother though she isn’t Snow’s mother so i am not sure exactly how that works, but she is not the one of royal blood so the throne wouldn’t go to her. Though this is fairytale land so maybe power wins that game instead of succession by blood.

Well, Snow was cast out of the castle pretty fast by Regina after her father died. Although the new sovereign is normally declared right after the old dies, the coronation normally takes place a while later (sometimes weeks). That could be the reason Snow wasn’t crowned and officially a queen, yet.

That is true that like in England the new monarch is crowned a year later, but that doesn’t mean that they aren’t queen immediately. Snow is queen no matter what immediately. Unless they just have that Regina took over through power, Snow let her,Regina tries to kill her, Snow runs, Regina accuses Snow of murdering her father and being a traitor, so everyone turns on Snow for awhile. They need to show why everyone thinks that Snow is a traitor and a murderer.

Plus, Snow is on the run because she’s a fugitive. Regina probably made it that since Snow is a fugitive, she forfeits her right to the throne and therefore, it goes to her instead.

It depends on how old Snow is supposed to be, too. The character’s age is not the actress’ age, so Regina may have been Regent. A regent rules for a prince or princess who is heir to the throne but under whatever the “age of majority” is in the kingdom. Usually this is 18, but that doesn’t mean it is always 18. So, Regina could’ve started by being Snow’s regent.

Just a little remark: even if Snow and Charming and Thomas and Cinderella aren’t yet King&Queen, their daughters Emma and Alexandra are princesses. They automatically are, because at least one of their parents (or both actually) is a prince/princess.
    Real life examples:
The infantas are princesses, even though Prince Felipe is not yet king. Prince William and Prince Harry are princes even though their father isn’t yet king. The princesses of The Netherlands, Denmark and Sweden also, etc. 😉

True in both cases. Remember, not that it really matters but Emma was born as the curse was coming. Alexandra was not born until Cindy/ashley was in Storybrooke. Yes they are both Princesses. Thomas was also missing after the capture of Rumple.

Good point she rules until the heir comes of age then she is just the Queen mother.
