I think whoever tames the shadow becomes the next Pan, which is more of a leadership title than an actual person. But, if Baelfire managed to capture the shadow, he might just become Peter Pan, and by subduing the shadow, allow the Lost Boys to go free.

May 6, 2013 at 4:13 am #191382MysteryKat25ParticipantI like that idea slurpeez – Bae has been through so much to that point and he needs something to go right for him. I could totally see him worrying about the lost boys, just like he saved the Darling children.
I’m also curious to see when he changes his name because I don’t think he jumped straight from Baelfire to Neal Cassidy / Cassady (I can’t remember the spelling).
The fact that in our world the name Neal C. relates to Peter Pan really helps the theory that he became Peter Pan at some point and then, upon arriving in our world again which he clearly does at some point, changes it to something that relates back to it but he’s not going around introducing himself by the name of Peter Pan (cause really, who would take him seriously? I’m sure he’d learn pretty quick that he needs a new name).
I’ve long been a proponent of the name change theory just from him trying to stay away from Rumple. The question is how early did that begin? He kept the name Baelfire when interacting with the Darlings but it’s plausible that he earns a new title and therefore a new name while in Neverland.
After all, even Rufio in “Hook” is trying to be “the Pan” – not Peter, just “the Pan.”

I think that the shadow is an entity in its own right (there is no body of Peter Pan that it has left) and that our story is basically going to be that Peter Pan was a bad guy, and Hook was actually all right, as far as pirates go. We’re definitely going to end up feeling more sympathetic towards hook by the end of the season.
I may not be accurate (I’m unable to access my episodes at the moment) but did Hook not see Baelfire in the pub when he followed Rumplestiltskin in? It is possible that if he saw him there, he might recognize him a few years later and know that this is Milah’s son. I can see him easily trying to be an adoptive father in that right because he sees Milah’s courage in her. (And, to be honest, he looks a bit more like her than Rumple- same hair, dark eyes etc.) I don’t know if Bae will find out the connection between Milah and Hook, it may be the sort of think that Hook keeps to himself.
(Ugh, and then there is the totally taunting line that Zoso laid on Rumple about Baelfire not being his? I am 99.9% sure he was just trying to get a rise out of Rumplestiltskin so that he would kill him- but I’m sure at this point there are also fans furiously writing fics where it turns out that Hook is actually Bae’s father and Rumple has to deal with the fact that his newly gained family isn’t his after all- well, not by blood at least.)

I definitely think this is where we are headed. At the very least, it will be some sort of confrontation if not total domination of the shadow. Maybe the shadow needs to be reunited with its..what?…owner?…body?…? I think it’s amazing that we may see more of Dylan in future flashbacks! There’s got to be a whole lot of story there. Gosh! I’m so amazed by this episode.

I do agree with the idea that Bae’s portal is the reason the shadow made it to London.
Maybe the shadow is the Dark One, having been separated from Rumpel by the portal. It seems to be fixated, like a ghost acting out a final traumatic concern, on keeping all of those Bae-by-proxy children safe, far too safe for their own good. This would also mean that Rumpel then wouldn’t have anyone other than himself to blame for his subsequent evil actions.

In The Doctor, Rumple said to Regina that “nothing is innocent” yet it is generally assumed that children are innocent. Also how childish is it to go “No girls allowed, only boys can stay in Neverland” which is basically what the shadow told Wendy. Also, the shadow not letting the boys go home could be seen as kind of saying “You have to stay and play with me forever”. Children don’t generally care about how others feel, they are very self-centred, it is by growing up that they learn to consider the needs and feelings of others. So whilst the shadow is wrong by forcing the lost boys to stay, it isn’t understanding what it is doing is wrong.

Maybe that’s just me, but he only stood there in front of Michael (the youngest one is called Michael, right?) and didn’t take him immediately, because he could have been looking for Bae, and only Bae, because that was why he was created: To get Rumplestiltskins son.
Er… probably not right, but yeah…May 6, 2013 at 1:27 pm #191453RumplesGirlKeymasterThat’s interesting PriceofMagic. So the shadow isn’t necessarily “evil” so much as immature. It wants companionship forever and can’t understand why someone would want to leave Neverland. Wendy did say it was a great place in the daytime because there are no adults around, there are mermaids and fairies and all sorts of creatures.
I wonder if Bae’s past in NL will be a sort of reverse Peter Pan. Pan brought children to NL, maybe Bae takes them home. If the shadow can’t “see sense” about letting sad boys go home to their parents, then maybe Bae and Hook use the JR to take the boys home, stealing them (as it were) from the shadow.
