Was Daniel part of Cora’s plan all along for shaping Regina’s outlook? Cora spooked a horse to put a girl in danger to get Regina to rescue the girl to get the girl’s father to marry Regina, and some have speculated that Cora was involved even earlier with the death of Leopold’s first wife. Cora’s goal in this elaborate plot was to boost her family’s status, but she also wanted Regina to think like her. Cora would not hesitate to manufacture emotional trauma if she thought it would “help”: hire a handsome stable boy about the same age as Regina, let them grow close, then rip them apart at the crucial moment.

It was my understanding that Cora wasn’t aware and that Snow telling her really was the reveal. However, when she did realize her daughter was in love with a lowly stable boy, there had to have been other ways to handle the situation besides pulling your daughter’s true love’s heart out. I can see Cora ripping out a heart being very much aware of the turmoil this will send her child into. Maybe emotional trauma/hatred/deathoftruelove is what awakens Cora and Regina’s type of magic? If Cora had already manipulated events to make her child a queen, finding a situations to awaken her magic (even more power for the family) would have just been icing on the cake!
oh i could see Cora hiring Daniel specifically because she knew that Regina would fall in love with him. she is just that twisted. i dont know. nice theory never thought of it.

Cora didn’t have to kill Daniel. If it were me, I’d have ripped his heart out in secret and then controlled him to, say, cheat on Regina and get caught. Or to have him get caught stealing from Regina with the intention of leaving her. I would have done something that would make Regina not want to be with him anymore and make her cleave to king Leopold instead. But Cora is ruthless and heartless. She didn’t care because she is a boss 😛
Regina using Daniels ring to power the hat, to me, is understandable. Her hatred for snow (and Emma) is so powerful that she is willing to sacrifice the things she loved to get back at them. She did it for her father for the curse and the ring for the apple. Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned right? 😛 I think that whip Cora is responsible for the death, Snow did play a wee part. Cora wouldn’t have known anything if it wasn’t for snow. I’m not saying she deserves death but she broke a promise afterall. Regina lives her whole life in fear of her mother… I dont think her natural mind would just start plotting to kill her as it did for snow.

I agree Watcher. Regina blamed the easier person at the time. Snow was partly to blame for Daniel’s death. She was old enough to know what a secret was, even if it was revealed with the best of intentions. Unfortunately, Snow secret-keeping ability hasn’t improved with age. Even if Regina and Daniel had run off together, I wouldn’t put it past Cora to use a locator spell and track Regina down.
