Oh and one more thing – as i said in another post, August might be turning back into wood for each lie he says… which is why at first he doesn’t lie, but then sees it as worth risking it if he can get rumple’s dagger to command him to cure him or something…

Perhaps one of the consequences of telling a lie is turning back into a puppet. In the Disney version, whenever Pinocchio told a lie, his nose would grow. Also, in order to become real in the first place, he had to be brave and truthful. Perhaps the inverse it true, too. If he lies, he goes from real to wooden. August told a huge lie when he pretended to be Baelfire to trick Mr. Gold.

I like this theory! If August has to be Pinocchio (which I still hope he isnt), I like the idea that with every lie, parts of him turn to wood. Great imagination!

It could mean nothing, as TV/movie scripts often shortcut actual dialing to get to the point, but in THIS show? Hmm … and no, I don’t think it was 911. Could a local number only need 3 digits to dial in Storybrooke? And what was with the green phone anyway? Another red herring perhaps?
Which brings me to another point. Some of the technology in SB is outdated, but some, not. In the pilot, they had internet and therefore a more recent PC, but later, Regina gave Henry an 80s-era game. Old TVs, all kinds of throwbacks. At City Hall in the early episodes at City Hall there were computer monitors all over the place – older ones. Wassup with that?
Anywho, I digress.
Back on topic, I still think August COULD be future-Henry, in some way. The way he tried to use the dagger on Mr Gold was very, umm, Henry/child-like.
Thoughts?

I believe the three numbers are just a result of video editing, so the scene didn’t get too long, etc. Maybe it’s something, but I personally believe it’s not.
About the old stuff, well, they where frozen in time, in 1984. Even now, with the time running, they wouldn’t get any new technology , since they are not allowed to get out of town nor is anyone but Emma allowed to come in…
…speaking of which, did you noticed that August’s motorcycle’s plaque expired in 1984? So, my guess is that he didn’t come from outside SB, but like Jefferson he might have been trapped somewhere in the outskirts, or something like that. So, in my mind, he would be a character from FTL – Pinocchio is ok, specially if something was made so he’d be safe, the White Knight too, but only if he was, like Jefferson, someone from FTL stucked in Wonderland…April 29, 2012 at 3:43 am #144578Jeremy LaughlinParticipantOn the age issue, Bae could easily still be alive if, as Gold said, he travled through TIME and space.
As far as whether Pinocchio is an interesting character, I’ll say this: while I actually liked the Disney movie telling that story when I was young, I can’t say that in my older years I’ve cared much for ANY fairytale character. Yet, I love this show and I have more interest in fairytales now than I would have thought possible as a result. My feeling is that if these writers decide to make Pinocchio an important character, he’s going to be awesome. Let’s face it: Snow White was a tad lame until OUaT happened. 😉

April 30, 2012 at 5:51 pm #144837sorchaofsevenwatersParticipantI was hoping that August was Bae because that scene with him and Gold was really touching. Since August isn’t who we thought he was and we were mislead, do you think that the writers of the show will mislead us again into thinking he is Pinocchio. Maybe he is an even bigger character that we never thought of.
Also i was thinking about the whole OZ idea. Though I dont actually believe August is the tin man I thought it was interesting the similarities between him getting out of bed and how the Tin-man was first found almost stiff-like. Again I DO NOT THINK that he is the tin man but things like the oil cans in Mr. Golds shop might forshadow future episodes pointing towards the story of Oz.
Just a thought. 🙂 -
