One thing that makes me wonder though – in The Doctor, we clearly see that the person Victor brought to life was looking like the Frankenstein monster and nothing like Victor’s brother. He was in a terrible shape, crocodile-like looking skin, stitches everywhere, not to mention he was of a rather large size and swollen. But if this wasn’t his brother, he would need yet another heart?
Also, this was a long time before Regina casts the curse but Dr Whale is desperate do come back to his world as soon as possible. This bothers me because there is a feel of rush as if Victor either hasn’t finished his project yet and his brother’s body preservation was limited, or that he indeed brought his brother to life but he needed care, some finishing touches and some training. If Victor successfully resurrected his brother all these years before the curse, wouldn’t he have enough time to accomplish all that? And if he couldn’t, after all that time, wouldn’t he lose hope and give up, seeing that being stuck in Storybrooke would be a perfect excuse? Not to mention that Igor was probably still there, tending to the monster.[adrotate group="5"]January 19, 2013 at 5:11 pm #169096elleParticipantI wondered about that, too, for a while but then we have no idea what shape his brother’s body was in when he died. We know he was in the amry–he could have died in battle and his body might not have been in good shape.
I’m not sure why he would need another heart–it could that he simply think a magical one would be needed to bring his brother back to life.
In The Dotor, we see that Victor was successful in bringing his brother back to life–it seems most likely something we wrong. Maybe it was similar to what happened to Daniel when he came back to life. And we don’t really know how his brother was when the curse came–it could be that time is of the esscence.

Yes, in his very red strange outfit. Who would Rumple want to resurrect? The only person we know for sure he’s killed is Milah, right? And I guess the previous Dark One. He meets Viktor long before he meets Belle, so it’s not an attempt to bring her back to life after Regina lied to him. Bae’s not DEAD, so it can’t be his son. Am I forgetting anyone?
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"January 19, 2013 at 6:50 pm #169116RumplesGirlKeymasterOk wait. I think I just figured this out. Part of the flashback this week has to take place BEFORE the events of The Doctor meaning that we have to see how Rumple and Viktor meet. Though…why didn’t he send Jefferson? So in that small clip of Rumple telling Frankenstein that he’s interested in his work, it’s the work to set up Regina. This is how he got Frankenstein to come to FTL and trick Regina and then allow him to keep the heart to help his brother. I’m betting that Frankie meets Rumple right after his brother dies.

Heros don't get their Happy Ending!
January 19, 2013 at 9:01 pm #169126evilqueenParticipantThat’s what I always thought, RumplesGirl. In that clip Rumple seemed somehow younger (maybe it’s the red 😆 ) and I’m pretty sure that must be something to do with setting Regina up.
And tiara_rose, seems like an obvious thing Rumple would do to make sure Victor helps him out, however, I would rather have his brother die of other causes.
I’m sure Victor’s studies were already very advanced before his brother’s death so he must have realised all he needed was a strong heart. He actually must have been very desperate all along, because he wanted to show his father that his work was meaningful and he didn’t have to get this commission to make a name for himself.January 20, 2013 at 12:31 am #169170jasperannParticipant@Sam993 wrote:

Oh I agree. With Belle, it was just him using her to get back at Rumpelstiltskin. He was a bit in her personal space and he did sort of use his physical appeal in a way, but not in the way that he normally does with Emma. The way he was with her was more threatening than flirty.
He sort of bested Emma and Belle I guess…with Belle is was him erasing her memories I guess. With Emma it is a bit harder–yeah he sided back with Cora after she left him, but then she knocked him out cold. 🙂
I will admit that I do like there scenes togehter–I don’t ship them, but I am interested in how they both talk to one another. The actors have a great way of being able to show both wariness and some form of common ground.
They’re trying not to reveal too much of themselves when they’re talking, right? Like they’re afraid to show their true selves. That’s why Emma is trying to shrug everything off.
Join the ship! It’s more complex than Snow and Charming.
This is how I feel about Emma and Hook too! Even my Hubby says Hook likes her and she seems to like him too. But then I was one of the first people to ship Eric and Sookie from True Blood too, so it isn’t unusually that I ship someone that seems to rub some people the wrong way. 😆
In the sneak peek I took her small smile at the end as a regretful smile, that she knew that she couldn’t help him. But then I guess that is what shippers like me do, read into things… 😆

It would be consistent if Gerhardt hadn’t reacted well to having someone else’s heart stuck in him, like what happened with Daniel. Maybe Viktor tried it in SB to test if someone else would react the same say Gerhardt did, so he could continue his research and try to figure out a way to fix him. We never really got an explanation as to why he did it in SB, did we? Surely he didn’t just get bored one day and decide to give it a bash for the helluvit.

I hope not. I know he’s all about manipulating people to his own means, but surely it would have been easier for him to go after someone in their own world, rather than go to the trouble of setting up someone in another world. Though I guess if he didn’t want Regina to figure out how she’d been manipulated, perhaps recruiting someone from another world was a preferable option? Hmmm, guess it could go either way.
