This show is getting better. It was like the beginning was strong and then they had some weak episodes in the middle and now here towards the end they are having strong episodes again.

Also, interesting thought on the reflections, hjbau. I noticed those as well, but couldn’t think why they would have filmed it that way particularly.
Also, Bae becomes the Hatter? Interesting thought, but as much as I welcome it, that one would really surprise me. I can’t fathom how he would have lived all those years as the Hatter never aging.
I would love to see the guy with the carrot from the Dreamy episode show up for tea, though, even if the Mad Hatter/Jefferson slams the door in his face:)
I’ve also seen photos that elude to August showing up at Jefferson’s house to talk with him.

I don’t know if she tells him or what. Or if he heard about it from Mary that Henry thinks Emma is her daughter. I have no idea why the Hatter thinks that Emma has magic, but it seems that is why he is kidnapping Emma specifically because he thinks she can help him. I have no idea what making a hat does for him though.

March 23, 2012 at 10:00 pm #139571hjbauParticipantI am not convinced that the fairytale world exists right now as a place that they can go back to. I think that could happen in another season, but who knows. It is possible i guess if Wonderland is a third realm that is not the real world and not the fairytale world. Though i still like the idea that it “Wonderland” is the real world though i think it is unlikely because they have cast a Red Queen and a Caterpillar unless they are in the fairytale world.
I thought at first that maybe the hat would allow him to leave town especially since we know he has mapped the area meaning as far as he can go to the boundaries. That made me think he has been trying to leave town.

I doubt Regina is behind the kidnappings, since Jefferson clearly believes that fairy tales are real. Regina wouldn’t want to risk exposing anyone, especially Emma, to someone like Jefferson, who is crazy enough to believe in FTL. No one needs to give Jefferson a reason. In his mind, desperate times call for desperate measures. Jefferson kidnapped Mary Margaret in order to lure Emma to his house, drug her, and demand she make a magic hat so he can return to Wonderland. Jefferson has somehow figured out who Emma is and believes she has some kind of power to help him. Perhaps he’s desperate to get back to his daughter, who’s trapped in Wonderland or something. After living 28 years in SB, knowing he’s trapped in a place where no one knows who he/she is, Jefferson is bound to go kind of nuts. Ultimately, I think Jefferson will be redeemed, and once Emma and August help him, he’ll calm down and regain some of his sanity.
Perhaps August mentions to Jefferson who Emma is and what she’s capable of, knowing it will trigger events in SB (just like August prompted Red to have an adventure and prompted Henry to search for clues in his book). Even though August doesn’t directly tell Jefferson to kidnap Emma, he knows what Jefferson was capable of, and so the mere mention of Emma sets off events. So, August knows Emma will hear Jefferson’s story of being the Mad Hatter, see the scar on his neck where he was nearly beheaded by the Queen of Hearts, and will come to question things more than ever before. August said to Henry in ep. 16 that Emma needs evidence to believe things, and Jefferson has the tangible scar on his neck to go with the fairytale story. In the episode photos, we see August outside of Jefferson’s house. So, perhaps August will appear to come to Emma’s aid, and will reassure Jefferson that things will be okay.

I agree though i think that the Hatter kidnapped Emma and Mary on his own though i am not sure who he kidnapped first. He may have kidnapped Mary first and tried to get her to make a hat and it didn’t work or he kidnapped Emma first. I think that this is probably the same night that Mary disappeared. Like Emma came back to check on her before she went to bed and she was gone so she went out looking right away. So i think Emma is going to get Mary back to the jail before Regina notices.

I wonder who finds out that Emma and MM are gone/kidnapped? August? I feel like someone should be a witness to the Mad Hatter before he disappears (at least that’s what I think will happen).
Keeper of Sidney Glass' Epic Trench Coat and Hat. He's obviously not using it right now. 😉
March 24, 2012 at 3:38 pm #139643SnickerdoodleParticipant“Hat Trick” – While searching for a missing Mary Margaret, Emma is kidnapped by a man whose affinity for hats has him teetering on the edge of madness. Meanwhile, viewers will be transported outside of the fairytale land that was for the first time when the Evil Queen persuades a skillful man of magic to come work for her one last time and travel to Wonderland in order to help steal something from the Queen of Hearts, on “Once Upon a Time,” SUNDAY, MARCH 25 (8:00-9:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.
I think it is because of this press release (spoiler) for this episode that I think Regina might be involved somehow. And I guess I also think that Jefferson knows the FTL characters are stuck in SB. I think he knows somehow. Maybe he bumps into Emma and she awakens that awareness in him somehow, and that’s how he knows she has magic.
March 24, 2012 at 5:44 pm #139676SlurpeezParticipant@hjbau: Didn’t the Mad Hatter say he lived alone to Emma in one of the spoilers? She remarked on the size of his house and how he must have a huge family. But, he said it was just him living there. That makes me question where his daughter would be in SB. In an orphanage? But then, we know there isn’t a foster care system in SB, based on what we know from ep. 9. Could Jefferson’s daughter be living with other relatives? Could it be she was trapped in Wonderland the entire time, but will be free to come to SB by the end of the episode?
@sjm: I still don’t think Regina would put Jefferson up to the kidnappings, simply because she wouldn’t want to risk him talking about FTL being real, especially to Emma. I think Regina suspects who Emma is based on her questioning Mr. Gold in episode 4 when he said “I think you know who she is” or something similar. Based on the episode description, Regina also seems to know all about the Mad Hatter being a powerful man of magic who can travel between Wonderland and FTL. I don’t think Regina would want someone as powerful as that interacting with Emma too much."That’s how you know you’ve really got a home. When you leave it, there’s this feeling that you can’t shake.
