Yes, I know I keep reading that they'd never reveal who really died in the sneak peek, but they gave away who Dr. Whale was, and I remember before the Sheriff who must not be named was killed off, TV Guide had spilled it over the summer so that it wasn't a big surprise that it was him.

I've also read that he must be under a sleeping curse or something like that, but I agree though that I can't see them using that again so soon. Plus, if he is under some type of curse, it would seem like it's going to be impossible to have him wake up because he doesn't have a true love that the audience is aware of. I think it would also make Emma look dumb if he's just been knocked unconscious, but she thinks he's dead. Although with this show, they could do that since they're not afraid of the Charmings looking dumb at times.

Also if it were possible to impersonate a Archie as a corpse or use someone that's already dead and make that person look like Archie, I guess that's another way they could get around it by having someone set up Regina that way but have Archie still be alive, but I'm not sure that's possible or if they'd even go there.

My thoughts exactly. But Horowitz has been playing tricks with us too so now the fans are speculating who possibly killed Archie but they also know he's coming back to the future episodes so they think along the lines “what sort of trick/curse is this” and still ponder on who is behind it. This sets a perfect background to an element of surprise that maybe there wasn't anyone behind it and that it isn't an evil trick.
What I'm trying to say is that I did a bit of research and it confirmed that crickets do hibernate when winter comes and now the curse has broken, Archie might experience some side effects of that? Would Gepetto catch on this?
The writers could be laughing at us all that time!

I think some sort of magic has been used on Archie so that he displays all the signs of being dead without being dead. Like Henry when under the sleeping curse. However, I don’t think Archie is under a sleeping curse. Considering Cora spoke of other nether-realms to Aurora, such as the one where souls taken by the wraith are trapped, what if Archie’s soul/counciousness is trapped in a netherworld?

As for True love’s kiss, they could have a slobbery dog kiss from Pongo or, and this is very unlikely, they could have their first gay kiss and have Gepetto kiss Archie. There must be a reason why Gepetto kept Jiminy around considering what Jiminy did to his parents.

Also, if the curse was designed to take away everyone’s happy ending, why were Gepetto/Marco and Archie such good friends?

I have a theory of how he can still be alive but its not really a good one,
there was a form about how when Cora got to Storybrooke she would impersonate someone, so it could be her just looking like Archie pretending to be dead, while Archie may be actually dead or somewhere else, which is kind of what she did with Lancelot, I have no clue on why she would do that, maybe to blame Regina, but then why not just kill him in the first place.

Also maybe it is Archie but he is not in fact dead, if you can take someone heart and use their dead, decaying body as a zombie, and if you can put words into peoples mouths, and you can make them do actions like close a door, even without them knowing it, can you potentially make them look dead by using their heart.

Last idea is that he is under some kind of curse because in Snow’s and Henry’s case with the sleeping curse, both were said to be dead, by not breathing and machines not restricting life, but yet they are walking strong. He could be under a sleeping curse.

All of these ideas reuse things they’ve done in the past, multiple times, so I kind of hope I’m wrong, but by these or other means I’m still rooting for him to live.

Uh, oh, idea – what if Gepetto did it because he only just recognized that Archie is the same man who destroyed his parents? There is a good chance that Jiminy as a cricket has never revealed to Gepetto that he was the same person who made him an orphan. Now the curse is broken and Marco finds out that Archie awfully reminds him the person from his childhood, goes to question him but finds out he’s ALSO the cricket that kept him company and acted as a friend, he might feel betrayed… We already saw with the wooden wardrobe that Gepetto isn’t always entirely proper with his intentions so who knows, maybe he made a deal with Blue?

EQ- Good idea, except for the fact in The Stranger, 1×20, Gepetto stated to Jiminy that his debt to him would never be fulfilled. I could be wrong, but I say that was probably based on what Jiminy did to his parents, and that was before the curse

I’m not sure about it but what if Archie isn’t really dead, just under a sleeping curse? I mean, They checked Snow too, when she was cursed, and they also though she was dead.

Regina was the one to seperate Hansel and Gretal from their father, and she was not the one to reunite them. Jefferson did wrong, but Grace was also the one to suffer, too–she was apart from her father. And again, she did not reunite them together. The Dwarves, while the curse was in effect, were not together, nor were they close. The people in Storybrooke were afraid of Regina–it was only when the curse broke, did they gain some happiness.

With Granny and Red Riding Hood, they were friends with Snow White and Prince Charming–they probably had a good life together. 🙂

Oh yeah, true, just rewatched it and Gepetto clearly said to Jiminy “Help? Like you helped my parents?!”. Bummer, kinda hoped we could have other suspects than the usual ones…

EQ- Same here, maybe it will be Sydney, or Neal or August or Pongo? I have no support there though.
Ellie- I think that you are right in saying that the curse stripped them of their happiness but that even though it was worse, a lot worse, for 28 years, that the pay off for maybe going through the curse is now some people are happier than they were prior towards it. It wouldn’t have happened if not for Regina, but being the fact that it was her who caused most of the problems in the first place, it still makes many not happy with her. And I would agree that it was only through Emma as well as the curse breaking, again Emma, that gave the people their even happier endings
