I’m not just comparing her to Snow White, I am comparing her to most of the women on this show, all of whom have been shown to be fighters. Almost all of them have held a sword and fought.
I just feel like it is old–Mulan, Snow White, and Emma have all fought with swords. And the rest of the main female (Regina and Cora) have used magic to fight. I’d just like a little variation.
Belle already had a strength of character. She was smart and determined and willing to sacrfice her life for her family, friends, and village. She stood up to Rumpelstiltskin and was unafraid to speak her mind.

Are you sure? Because a good portion of your comments about Belle have been complaining about her being too weak.

We know that she was living on her own after she left Rumpel’s castle. We also know that she always wanted to have an adventure of her own. Usually, adventures in the Enchanted Forest consist of danger, so the possibility of her Belle being chased by some monster doesn’t seem that out there.
Besides, Belle looks too good in that outfit for it to go to waste.

When it comes to fighting, I never complained. I wanted her to be more assertive–to be more cautious of her surrounding. I wanted to see her stand by herself a bit more–like she had with her father. I do like Belle, I’ve never disliked her in the show. But after The Crocodile, I just feel like her character is a bit too naive.
I never talked about her being physically strong. You don’t need a sword to be strong. You don’t need to be able to throw a punch to stand up to herself. That was what I loved about her in Skin Deep. She had guts and personality.

I can’t decide how I feel about the whole Belle/Mulan adventure. I knew that we’d be seeing Belle’s time post-Rumple but pre-Regina at some time, but I guess I never pictured her running around with Mulan. It seems like an attempt to bring the actress who plays Mulan back to keep her fresh in our minds and try to flesh out her story a bit more (which I don’t really care about at this point. I’m content to let her and Aurora go off and find Philip without us learning more about them. I really got my fill of them in present day EF episodes 1-9). But I think that if it focuses more on Belle becoming stronger, not necessarily a warrior, but more assertive and willing to fight for what she wants/loves, then great.
It’s going to be one of the those weeks where I end up caring more about what’s happening in SB than in FTL of the past. The Hook/Belle/Rumple dynamic should be fantastic. And of course, any time Rumple gets to be on screen a lot, I am a happy happy dearie."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"January 11, 2013 at 2:58 pm #167922eirelandParticipantThey just showed a longer/extended sneak peek on “live with Kelly and Michael” when Ginny was there… It was the same scene as they showed on Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, but started earlier and went longer…
Looks like Snow and David are house-hunting… and might have their first real fight? I’m actually looking forward to it (because we know they’re not going to break up or anything), because it will actually make them seem like a real couple?
I guess they realized they need a room with a door? re: house hunting
I was also curious as to how all four of them fit into MM’s tiny little apartment, so… looks like they’ll be addressing it this week.January 11, 2013 at 7:14 pm #167977evilqueenParticipantHey, guess what, this time, we actually ARE going to see the entire episode before it even airs!
