My theory has always been that the same year repeated over and over, not the same day, and it didn’t always play out the same way every time.
Yes, and this makes a lot a sense. It’s actually the SAME day of the year when we saw Snow give that lecture. The curse happened the day Emma was born, and Emma came to Storybrooke exactly 28 years later on her birthday.

March 14, 2013 at 8:59 pm #179993spitweetParticipantTo me it seems like they only remember one day… if it’s the same day over and over again, they have to…no ?

I always understood her happy ending to be watching all those who hated her live out their lives without knowing who they are and who they loved.
But I think AngieBelle has it right about the curse: they were living the same year (1983) over and over again, but each was different but still had many repeated moments. So Snow gave that bird house speech 28 times, on the same day every year, because that’s what she planned to teach that day. But other moments were made as well that weren’t repeated every year."He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"March 14, 2013 at 9:29 pm #179996MysteryKat25ParticipantThe only thing that brings into question is Ashley: cause if time was frozen then she was just pregnant forever…if time was playing for a year and then starting over…she gave birth and cared for a newborn 28 times…and that’s gotta suck. On the bright side in that version she may not have had a deal with Gold cause he didn’t know he was Rumple until Emma came to town so he *may* have made that deal sometime between 1×01 & 1×04 just in order to get a favor from Emma, banking on what she would do.
I still like the time is essentially frozen thing and everybody with their “I’ve been doing this for as long as I can remember” haze but I’m really not sure anymore!
Clearly once Henry gets there things get weird but supposedly he was affected by it as well (which doesn't make sense, but the rest of the wording of Adam's tweet was basically that it affected him, his perception was clouded for the 10 years until he got the book and then things became clear to him – so not sure he was “affected” in the way that the others were or not, just that his perception was very clouded based on how people around him were – sadly I don't think we'll get to that in this ep 🙁 I wanna know how Henry got there! On the bright side, this ep should set up what SB was like originally so we get a payoff when he does get there so we can compare and figure more of this stuff out.

March 14, 2013 at 9:43 pm #180000RumplesGirlKeymasterYeah, Ashley is the big “huh??” in all this. She was nine months pregnant at the time of the curse (or at least 8 and a half months). So was she just pregnant for 28 years or did she give birth once every 28 years and then have the clock reset. I honestly don’t think we’ll get the answers to Ashley specifically cause I don’t believe she’s scheduled to appear.
It’s like Henry got into town as a baby and his mind was dulled to everything that was happening around him. It was that book that woke him up. But, we know we’re not getting answers to that this episode. Or season.

Honestly, I think the problem is we are just not supposed to think about it this hard! lol.
