Will we get another sneak peek or is this it? I don’t think we’ll get enough to speculate about the fail safe without more to go on. Though the spoilers that reference a dragon do have me thinking it could be tied to letting Malificient loose …though that's probably stretching it.
I can see us getting one more FTL sneak peek but beyond that, I think we’ll get some script teases today or tomorrow and that’s it.
PS: for those who haven’t seen, this is the new pic/hash tag ONCE is promoting this week:

So I find that I’m really confused about this failsafe. What is it, exactly? Did Rumple write it into the Curse. Did Regina adapt the Curse with this fail safe?
Excellent questions. I’m wondering if the failsafe is activated magically, or if there is something physical that must be done. (maybe related to Maleficent) Using Hook to do dangerous physical jobs sounds like a reason Regina would ally with him at least temporarily.

What I wonder, though, … now that the “curse” is broken, if the fail-safe would even still work?

Henry compared it to a “self-destruct” button, though I’m not sure yet what could activate it.
Did Rumple write it into the Curse. Did Regina adapt the Curse with this fail safe?
I think it is some clause that was written into the curse by Rumple himself when he created it. He is the master of fine-print. Also, remember, he added a drop of true-love potion so that Emma would be the savior, and I believe he called it a “safety valve.” In this case, I think the “fail-safe” could involve Baelfire perhaps. The curse was designed to find Rumple’s son. Now that’s he’s been found, perhaps SB is no longer required to exist. Now that Regina is aware of Neal’s real identity, she might have been reminded about this “fail-safe” option.

I believe safety value was his exact wording, yes. Interesting idea about Bae and we know how angry Regina is about learning Henry’s father is back in his life and we still need interaction between Hook and Nealfire…so, if Bae is the key to the fail safe this episode could kill several birds with one stone: Regina’s plans, GOAT’s plans, Hook/Neal interaction (which I’m dying for), and the Charmings making a final decision about leaving SB.

It seems kind of risky to put that into the curse as a failsafe, not knowing if he would ever be found. Regina seems pretty confident that enacting this failsafe is all up to her. It would be an amazing twist, though. These last remaining episodes are going to move super fast!

Dangerous, physical jobs like dealing with a dragon in a cave? Actually, Regina probably just wanted him to tag along because he can distract Maleficent while Regina sneaks up from behind to do whatever needs to be done. Hook is the bait, (there’s actually something sort of poetic about that).
April 26, 2013 at 3:11 pm #188893KebParticipantI don’t think Regina’s death or disappearance could be the trigger for the destruction of Storybrooke, though. Unless Regina snuck something in without Rumple’s knowledge (seems unlikely, since Belle’s about the only thing she’s ever been able to “beat” him with), he would know that hurting her would put himself and Belle in danger–and he would never have summoned a wraith on her.

April 26, 2013 at 3:14 pm #188894SlurpeezParticipantI just posted an interview that Lana Parrilla gave in anticipation of this week’s episode. She drops some hints like Regina plans to take Hook along with her and Henry to the EF! EvilHook lives (at least in my own mind)! 😀

April 26, 2013 at 3:21 pm #188898kfchimeraParticipantWell far as the wraith thing, maybe Rumpel didn’t know that Regina altered the curse to put a fail-safe in. The curse sounds kind of like a computer program, doesn’t it? Rumpel wrote the basic code, which may have been beyond Regina’s skills to do herself, but she still could make a few changes to customize it.
