He is family now. He’s Henry’s other grandfather, so I don’t think they’ll exclude him. But they may offer him some sort of deal. Or maybe Charming’s favor comes into play: “you can return to us, but you have to protect our family.”
I think that favor will come into play later, and I agree Prince Charming might use it to save his family. Of course, I think by the end, Regina will realize on her own that she can’t kill Henry’s family, because she would forever sever her relationship with Henry. (Even just having that conversation with Henry crossed a dark line). Yet, I think Regina might be willing to lay her differences aside with Emma and the rest of the clan if Henry’s life is at stake and that Tamara is the real danger. We know it is when Tamara and Greg kidnaps Henry to another realm in the finale. Plus, I think Rumple will be prompted to go after Neal, since something tragic happens to him in 2×21.

Keeper of Belle's Gold magic, sand dollar, cloaks, purple FTL outfit, spell scroll, library key, copy of Romeo and Juliet, and cry-muffling pillow, Rumple's doll, overcoat, and strength, and The Timeline. My spreadsheet: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6r8CySCCWd9R0RUNm4xR3RhMEU/view?usp=sharing

I have to wonder if what finally brings Regina around besides Henry being kidnaped by GOAT is in part the torture Hook (?) administers. Thus far, no one has been able to really hurt her, she always bounces back but if the torture takes her powers then maybe it lessens her evilness.

😯 Just had a thought! 💡 Maybe GOAT actually manages to steal Regina’s powers without killing her, so she is brought back into balance since she would then be powerless and “normal” again. I think magic is what fuels Regina’s madness, and without it, she might just regain some sanity.

Agree. She was a completely normal girl until she got her first taste of magic and realized how much she loved it. She kept at thinking she could not become her mother, but then gave in to it because magic and revenge were so powerful. If they take away her magic AND Henry has been kidnapped this could be the start of her mellowing out. The question then becomes, will she eventually try to get her magic back. Can she really live without it?

Well, she certainly can live without it, since she did for 28 years in SB before Mr. Gold brought magic there. Hmmm, that makes me question whether she’d actually become saner. Even without magic, Mayor Mills managed to be pretty full-on crazy; she separated Owen Flynn from his dad, Kurt Flynn, she tried to send Ava and Nicolas to Boston, made David Nolan into a yutz, and murdered Graham. Yet, I think what you’re getting at is would she be content to live without magic? She may not have a choice though if she’s “zapped’ of her magical ability by GOAT.

Well, she had no need for magic during the Curse years. She had won. Plus, magic didn’t completely disappear. She didn’t bring much with her but there was some, and I’ve often wondered if she used it occasionally for something.
If she finds some way to get her magic back in S3, would she take it? If she still thinks the CharmingStiltskins provide a threat to her happiness and Henry, I can see her trying to get her magic back because her rationale is that she needs it to protect Henry, never mind the fact that it’s only insuring that the wedge between them continues to grow. Also: for those who need YT links for viewing Sneaks, here’s #4: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvsJdOkyRSs

During those 28 years nobody else had magic either. Her jones for it would be heightened by seeing others use magic. I think Regina would love to be the only one with magic, just like she wants to be the only one with a happy ending. And yeah, she still did some full-on crazy as Mayor Mills. If she were to get saner it would probably be due more to Henry than not having magic. She got her crap together briefly when he fell under the sleeping curse last year and again when she was first trying to stop Cora from coming to SB. The question is for how long would she keep it together this time?
April 25, 2013 at 2:40 pm #188620laurieanneParticipant#4 – Wow. So this is right after Snow escapes the Huntsman. Regina discovers the Huntsman’s betrayal and sets out to capture Snow herself. One thing bothers me(in addition to obvious over the top evil demonstrated) – that in Fruit of the Poisonous Tree, Regina told the Genie that everyone assumed it was he who killed Leopold. Obviously that news didn’t travel out to the villages. Or Regina thought she could make them believe her anyway. I don’t think Regina can say with any credibility that Snow and Charming made her the Evil Queen. She chose her path. It sounds like she believes her own lies, though, which is a very dangerous place to be.
Love the possibility that she could be robbed/zapped of her magic by GOAT. Then we would see a huge contrast between Regina with magic and Regina powerless. I like it and think it’s completely plausible that this is the direction they are going. I don’t think she thinks she can live without it, but maybe Henry will ultimately show her that she can. Perfect tie-in to Henry’s desire to get rid of magic. Now I feel better.

Okay, so there’s the order to kill the whole village. Very like Cora killing the village in the 2×05. I sometimes wonder, if despite all A&E’s talk of hope and redemption, the show has crossed the line into irredeemability for certain characters. If it’s a choice that’s one thing, but it’s one heck of a fine balance for what audiences will actually accept.
They are really pushing Regina closer and closer to full on dark. I do think she’ll be redeemed by series end (long time from now 😀 ) but oh boy…she has become her mother in the past and in the present.
I agree I think the favor Rumple now owes David will come into play and David & Snow will offer to include him, Neal, Belle to go back home but the favor is he has to protect their entire family, which includes Emma, Henry,Neal,Belle David,Snow and himself from Regina and the ogres and anyone else who threatens their kingdom.
In regards to Sneak Peek #4 Wow once again Regina crossed a line and her order to kill that entire village reminds me of how Cora murdered the people on the island in 2×05, Here she is ready to do the same thing again to residents of Storybrooke just so that she can have Henry all to herself, knowing full well that Henry does not not want to lose his entire family. In my opinion Regina has become even worse then Cora because of her desire for revenge against Snow and her desire to be loved by Henry.
