Desperation? Their numbers are stable, actually, ticked up a bit. There’s no reason for TPTB to be desperate. I’m guessing it has more to do with current media blitz OUAT is enjoying, not desperation. The earlier the sneak peek, the earlier the media can run it.

They did the same thing for Good Form, releasing the pic of Hook and Emma days before the sneak peek aired and they got great numbers after the show aired. They want the buzz going because viewers love Hook. Maybe not on this site, but look elsewhere and you’ll know its true.
This sneak peek doesn’t make sense. Hook said he remembered Cora couldn’t remove Emma’s heart back in 2×9. Yet, Emma had just knocked Hook out cold before Cora even tried to take Emma’s heart. So how could Hook possibly remember Emma’s care-bear stare if he was unconscious at the time? Sounds like the writers are forgetting their own narrative.

This sneak peek doesn’t make sense. Hook said he remembered Cora couldn’t remove Emma’s heart back in 2×9. Yet, Emma had just knocked out Hook cold in 2×9 before Cora tried to remove her heart. So how could Hook possibly remember Emma’s care-bear stare if he was unconscious at the time? Sounds like the writers are forgetting their own narrative.
Since there was a little bit of time between Emma knocking Hook out and Cora trying to take her heart, it’s possible that Hook could’ve come around in that time to see Emma blast Cora away without us being shown a shot of his reaction. He could’ve literally still been flat on the floor and just opened his eyes and turned his head, he’d have still been able to see what was going on. Plus Hook was up and about on his feet when it next showed Hook and Cora at Lake Nostos after Emma and Snow had returned to Storybrooke.

Agreed- this is my take on the matter as well- he came around in time to witness Emma keep her heart & blast Cora.

Hardly desperation. More elation with their ratings holding firm and even improving.
(some small pockets of killjoy attitude aside, Hook is currently a BIG draw and they know it. So is Ariel. )
Ratings are their lifeblood. Swashbuckling piracy and the Dinglehopper-loving mermaid generates positive attention. 🙂
In regards to not making sense…previews are supposed to make the viewers question and wonder and be beside themselves from the tease. If it generates conversation, it succeeds!
Specifically regarding Hook…Hook would easily have recovered to see Cora’s failure in capturing Emma’s heart. If that scene had been a cartoon it would have been a classic “seeing stars circle around” a character’a head while they momentarily blacked out. He had no intention of hurting Emma, he was playing innuendo pirate to the hilt(pun intended) and she bested him in a classic cinema move. It was quite entertaining, as well as proving his future point to Emma about her cababilities.
Could be a ton of intriguing fun!
