I don’t know. After how little they have been showing of what is going on with Emma and Snow. Epic failure. I am not convinced that they are going to have Emma/Hook anymore. He may be slightly flirtatious with her, but i doubt that anything will come of it. I think he is just going to be used as a bad guy to be thrown at Rumpel.

I was keen on a romance between Hook and Emma in the beginning, but I don’t think the writers are going to go in that direction. Or at least they shouldn’t. Emma knows he’s up to no good, and on a completely different note, I have a feeling Hook would remind Emma of Henry’s father. I know we don’t have any details on what happened between them, but Emma seems to think that he was a bad guy. So, I doubt Emma would entertain Hook’s advances.
I think Hook’s main story will be tied to Rumpel and Neverland in general.

I’m a Swanfire fan too – but I’m all for Emma dating around for awhile. But, I think it would be more effective for her growth, if she dated a stable adult male. Apparently very hard to find in Storybrooke and FTL but she needs to try having an adult relationship with someone who’s worked their issues out. Hook still has a lot of issues and (although we haven’t seen evidence yet on the show) has some pretty BIG issues to work through about children – let alone a vendetta to kill rooted in a lost love.
Again even though we haven’t actually seen it on the show, I am working under the assumption that he and Milha were very much in love if not each other’s true loves. The pain hasn’t seem to lessen after centuries for him – not saying he doesn’t have a chance of meeting someone new along the seasons to come but he has a ways to go before fans can start shipping him with anyone with/around children.
Yes, this is why I don’t like the idea of Hook/Emma at all. I don’t mind Emma dating other guys at all before SwanFire actually, well at least as long as they do it right. To me Hook/Emma would be okay as a flirtation on both of their sides, but not an actual relationship until he works out his issues and stops working with Cora, which isn’t going to happen at least not this season.
Of course, even as a flirtation, last night I just didn’t feel anything at all from Hook towards any of the ladies. I don’t know if it’s the writing, but I have to say that I was disappointed that they have this really hot villain who they’ve set up to be a lady killer in his first episode, and then have him have no game at all when he’s around a bunch of pretty princesses that he should be seducing. I mean just that very brief clip of MR-J saying that “all I want is you” towards Emma in the Canadian promo contained more sexual energy than Hook had last night, imo.
I don’t see Swan/Hook because I think Hook truly loved Milha and is driven completely by that love and the revenge he wants to exact. I think if Emma/Hook happened, it would be his way of manipulating her.
Yes, I’m not into Hook/Emma for this reason too because I think he’s just using her at this point, and she’d look incredibly dumb for falling for it.
October 29, 2012 at 12:57 pm #158415SlurpeezParticipantYes, Hook is a scoundrel. Yet, he’s being completely honest with Emma so far about his true motivation. He wants to get revenge against Rumplestiltskin, and he doesn’t have any real allegiance to Cora. He’s just interested in getting to SB, and will side with whomever will best help him accomplish that goal. Emma can tell when he’s being honest, and so I think a real partnership of convenience will spring up, and some flirtations will ensue. He may double-cross Cora by agreeing to let Emma and Snow stow away on his ship as they set sail for SB, navigating with the help of a magical compass. I don’t think Emma will fall for his advances, but I do think he’ll try and impress her for real. Nothing will come of it now, but it may way down the line. And let’s be realistic about Milha. He just wants to avenge her death and his hand, which is different from grieving over her. It’s been over 300 years, so I think it’s safe to say he could move on and care about another woman.

October 29, 2012 at 1:11 pm #158425RumplesGirlKeymasterI do think Hook loved Milah, but the the reasoning he gave to Emma about wanting to go to SB is very telling : “To get revenge on the man who took my hand” not “To exact revenge on the man who killed my true love.” I do think they are going to have a sort of triangle between Emma/Mystery Man (Bae, Peter Pan and whoever else we think he might be)/ Hook.

Great point! It’s interesting that Hook intentionally omitted the underlying reason. He didn’t lie, but he didn’t give his full reason. I think it’s too personal for him to say it to a complete stranger like Emma while she’s interrogating him and he’s facing being mauled by an ogre, but he told her enough to be honest. This could be a way of setting the stage for a potential relationship developing between Hook and Emma. Eventually, as Hook and Emma get closer and the trust builds, I could see him opening up to her and showing her he’s a complex man with layers and depth.

I think that more supports that he’s going to try to USE Emma romantically, just to get himself ahead. If he was all like “To get revenge for my true love” him then all being like “Oh Emma ;)” would be ultra sketch. I mean… Going to those lengths for your hand? 300 years of plotting and planning and risking your life? Life > Hand. But True Love? That’s something worth the revenge.
October 29, 2012 at 1:31 pm #158435SlurpeezParticipantI don’t think Hook’s omission supports the idea that Hook wants to use Emma romantically, since I don’t think he had any romantic notion towards Emma at their first encounter. Yes, his underlying reason to wanting to visit SB is to avenge Milha’s death by killing Rumpel, but that’s a highly personal thing to divulge to someone who’s interrogating you and as you’re facing being torn limb from limb by an ogre. Hook is a cunning pirate, and he’s not going to divulge his vulnerabilities about loving someone to Emma and her gang when they’re threatening his life. He wants to come across as a man who is in control and uses anger over a lost hand as motivation. He’s not going to be all soppy and tenderhearted while being interrogated. He’s going to say just enough to get them to spare his life.

Yeah, kind of shocked he didn’t try to use sex appeal or flattery on the princesses last night -especially Aurora who seemed like the easiest target. Really the only indication that he was/is a lady’s man would be him boasting that ‘he’s slept with many a man’s wife’ – And I’m willing to bet that’s just him talking and trying to seem manly in front of his crew (and intimidate Rumple further). Maybe Milha was the rare case – she did claim to fall in love with his stories in one night. Maybe Hook is really just a great story-teller: ALL talk…at least about his sexual life. 😀

Oh, ditto! Someone needs to start an entire threads based around ‘all I want is you’!
