Perhaps they aren’t going to make Elsa a villain, at least in the traditional sense that we’ve seen with Pan/WWW.
My headcannon? While searching for a way to find Bae years ago, Rumple destroyed the kingdom of Arendelle and trapped Elsa in the vault to ensure she couldn’t stop him. Now that she’s out, she wants to find her sister. Rumple, being that he now knows the pain of losing his son, begrudgingly decides to help Elsa as a way to redeem himself – especially after Belle finds out about Zelena.

The original tale is a completely different story. It’s not really the Disney version of The Snow Queen- it’s only *inspired* by The Snow Queen. Will they make Elsa like the Disney character or base her on Anderson’s story in which she is evil? As someone said, Once isn’t about the Disney films usually. It’s about the original stories- they just added a lot of Disney influence.
I don’t think they have an agenda in bringing in Frozen…the writers are just huge fans of the films themselves. Remember, OuaT is really just one big fanfiction!

All writes have an agenda. It’s called ratings.
Frozen is HUGE right now. Of course they are going to bring it in. That’s why even the promo for this season finale was “make sure you stick around for the final few mins!!” because they want everyone to know that they are bringing the new Disney favorite.
"He was a lot of things to me" "The only conclusion was love"May 12, 2014 at 11:30 am #268884theeviloneParticipantFrankly I am not a huge fan of Frozen. That’s what happens when you read a story before watching the movie. Everything was changed, including the meaning of good vs. evil within us all. Which the original story touches on. I liked the original Snow Queen better and when I saw the posters for Frozen I was really excited about Elsa’s look and the thought of her as the Snow Queen. Then the movie came out and completely ruined it. I am now excited that this is happening, this is another shot of for Disney to redeem the story for me. They better make her a villain!
In the original story the Snow Queen takes a little boy away and a little girl, that thought of him as a brother, goes in search of him. Considering there are a lot of little boys around, including little Prince Neal, this is gold. Plus now that Regina is in pain of a lost love what would make it better that joining someone that could freeze the painful heart. Just a thought.

Okay, okay, so maybe they are trying to encourage ratings but that doesn’t mean they are lying about being huge fans of the film themselves.

of course not. never said that. I’m sure they’re huge fans. Problem is, they’re huge fans of everything except spending time with the characters they already have and trying to develop them more.

or giving some more informations about the ogres, blue fairy or the dark one.
BTT: What might be also interesting is that it seemed like her magical color will be ice blue. Looking back to the villains of season 3 – WW and Pan – whose colors were both green it might mean that the season 4b villain might also have a connection to the color blue (Hades/SneakyFairy e.g.). Just theorizing.
“There were thousands and thousands of forms of joy in the world, but that all were essentially one and the same, namely, the joy of being able to love.”

We met, and defeated, both pp and www who both had green smoke, the same season we met tinkerbell the green fairy. Since s4 is going to deal with Elsa and her color is blue perhaps we will get more blue background
Time to hide your crazy, and start acting like a lady.
May 12, 2014 at 3:03 pm #268975MyrilParticipantFrozen has grown on me, and very much because of Elsa.
But I find it interesting, how people mostly take the Snow Queen of the Andersen story as abysmally evil. She was cold, yes, she took Kai with her, but Kai was already changed by a piece of a mirror, making him see only the ugly and bad in everything (except snowflakes it seems), that mirror was made by an evil troll though and not by the Snow Queen (it’s told in some adaptions that she was responsible for that change as well). The Snow Queen gave Kai a maybe nearly impossible task. The Snow Queen makes Kai forget Greta, but on the other hand thanks to the mirror piece Kai wasn’t seeing that much good in Greta at that time, on could say, it might have been even good for both of them, that he forgot for a while. On surface good and evil in Andersen’s tales sometimes seem to be simple, but it never is in my view in his tales, there are layers to it.
In the original story there is a frozen lake – the Snow Queen calls it the lake of reason – and some people see in using just reason something cold, bare empathy, emotions, something that creates loneliness and emptiness in the soul. A cold heart stands for a heart without love, but as well without hate, it’s worse one can say, no emotions at all.
Elsa is the twist on Snow Queen A&E could have come up with, so I am not surprised they’re taken by the movie, by the character. Twisting now Elsa back kinda to the traditional reading of the Snow Queen doesn’t quite sound like something A&E would do either. A capable antagonist to one or more of the main character, mistaken as big bad first, but that doesn’t has to mean evil villain. Seen some good ideas in that direction here and elsewhere.
¯\_(?????? ?)_/¯
