Well put, TimeSpacer 😀
[adrotate group="5"]March 31, 2013 at 6:35 pm #183491nonnieParticipantI loved the photo posted earlier of Kitsis (or was it Horowitz?) with the award and the caption “When you get one of these, then you can tell me how to write my show”! Somebody should send that to Kitsis and Horowitz!

Count me in agreement with those who dislike the negativity. I sometimes listen to a few of the other podcasts but this is pretty much the only site that has a forum I read regularly. That’s because I quickly discovered that the fans here are generally more tolerant and respectful toward each other and toward the show’s creators, than what I saw on many other sites (Pause for a moment and give yourselves a pat on the back!).
This is exactly why I stuck around! The only message board I visit. The other ones, when first discovering once, seemed way less kind, were rude, etc. Here, most everyone seems clever, kind, decent , and is very intelligent when it comes to the show and discussing/creating theories. They won me over! 🙂

I find the negative remarks mainly on the TV show review/recap sites, and a lot of the remarks appear to be from viewers that have started watching the show three episodes ago. Why watch a show if it makes you frustrated and angry? It’s best just to change the channel.

Poor Adam. When my husband tweeted him this photo he totally took it as serious and replied, “Soon! I promise!” 😆 Awww. <3

This. In any fandom, not just this show, I’m involved because the subject of the fandom is something I love and enjoy. If people wanna waste their time getting their rocks off by hating and tearing something apart, then it’s their loss. Fandom is supposed to bring you joy and be a rewarding experience. If it makes you raging mad, find another freaking thing to be a fan of instead and leave the rest of us alone to appreciate it.

I can see both sides of the fandom (kind of) though …I’d never think A&E should kill anyone off or change anything because I wanted it to be so- that’s insane! On the other hand, I have been gobsmacked by some of their decisions & directions this season, what with the ‘world’ rules set out in S1.I have found this season for me personally very hard- a few eps have been outright Awesome, a number I’ve both loved & despised & a number have been downright bad- for me.
I was an uber fan for S1 & part of S2, but it all got a bit soapy/out there, flawed & convenient for me, so I had to take a step back (these are characters I’d become very invested in after all & I did care what happened to them & why- fictional or not lol 😳 😉 ), rather than be overly disappointed & only having negative things to say about it (I was starting to get there at one point in time sadly!)
So I simply took breaks, enjoyed my other show & that fandom (Castle has pulled me through & bridged many Once disappointments 😉 but I steer clear of all but 2 of their sites as those fans can be very, very intensely creepy/ott, so it’s not just Oncer’s). Leaving me free to comeback to Once & catch up when I get an update that takes my interest & actually enjoy the show more- because I’m seeing where A&E are going over 2-4eps rather than simply focusing on just one little part/ep per week, of whatever arc they have going- that is what has helped me most, the holes & conveniences, can be overlooked for the larger story, as there is more to focus on than just those for a week, when things are …not so awesome 😉 Of course this only works while they haven’t ‘hooked’ me back in with an outstanding ep- but then it’s all good stuff to talk about 😆I don’t see myself as any less of a fan for doing for doing what I’ve done- it’s how I can stay a fan of the show, with some of the directions they’ve taken things & allows me to see the positives of the show, as well as the negatives.
The only deal breaker that would have me tuning out altogether, would be if they had a character/s go against who they have established them to be kind of thing.I didn’t know people were so nasty towards the show online in general though, maybe because I tend to stick with the nice sites I already know & love from S1 😉
I’m clueless when it comes to twitter, so I guess I don’t see all the A&E hate there when I do look at their pages & I must admit I haven’t hunted down spoiler or news like I did last season, so I must be avoiding all the ‘Once negativity’…. people really hate on Snow’s eyebrows??? 😮 that’s not creepy or weird lolI don’t think the difference between Once & Lost fan responses is so much steeped in an age difference, I think it’s more of the fact that social media has become even more openly ‘personalized’ & any random person can in fact have direct access to the creators/writers/actors of their favorite show at any time of day & these people are often times encouraged to respond or interact with the fandom via these medias, so the crazies pop out 🙄
