Should all the box threads be combined? I think there are three on here.
Maybe it’s a heart. π Maybe August has taken to ripping hearts out of people. I know he ripped Neal’s out after he convinced him to leave Emma.

August definitely makes a habit of keeping secrets hidden in wooden boxes. π I doubt it would be just his typewriter from Season 1.
The box itself (Pandora’s?) could be a magical display, showing whatever August needs for someone to see, the way the Doctor’s psychic paper works. Hmm, August is a wanderer, and he has at least two very different adult forms. His motorcycle wasn’t blue, was it?

I believe she remembers everything in the beginning. She is said to be the oldest power, even older than Rumple. They were in contact for awhile, she told him about Rumple’s lost son, Bae and his source of power, the dagger. The BF can’t leave SB but maybe she could send stuffs outside SB? Maybe. She probably the one who wrote the story book, she might draw the page where Bae was suck into the Vortex with Rumple. Then she sent it to August. Thing in that box might be the story page of Bae and Rumple. When August finished the job, he probably sent the book back to the BF. This would explain why did he go SB when Emma arrived, and also how he added story to the book as if he already saw it. He later knew Neal is Bae (my guess here) because he keeps in contact with Neal, maybe even became close friends after Emma went to jail, you guys can’t believe they just left without go out for a drink and chat about the whole curse thing right.

And with each passing moment, the mystery will become more tantalizing. Your imagination will inflame, but so will your frustration. Never knowing β only guessing β what could possibly be inside that box?
…and then we were all relieved that he revealed the contents of the box in that same scene…but in the end, they still got us frustrated over the contents of that freaking box, the devious buggers. π π

We know he later knew about Bae, possibly from encountering Bae out in the real world or getting his info from Blue. But how would he know back then that Neal was Bae?
See my post in the August thread. I just blabbed on for ages about how I think Blue was instructing August in this ep.
Gigi, sounds like we’re thinking along similar lines here. If it’s a page from the book, that Blue had written, and it was a page that related specifically to Neal, then that would convince him.

Will head over and read it now Phee. I think you and Gigi are right. K&H did say that Blue’s curse was to be in a position as a nun to help people but really unable to because she no longer has her magic. They never said she no longer had her memories. So I’m inclined to think that yes, she might have been in contact with AWB the whole time; she may have been following Bae’s path the whole time he was gone; and she may have been behind Henry’s adoption seemingly procured via Rumple. Mellie had an interesting thread where she suggested that Blue was the true puppet master. I do agree with that, only that she isn’t bad. As much as she is a wee bit of a snot, she is ultimately good.

August and Neal both appeared to not recognize each other. Therefore how would August know that whatever he had in the wooden box would convince Neal? To him, Neal was just a petty criminal from the Real World. So whatever he showed Neal in the box had to be recognized as universally magical in nature. That’s just my opinion and this show has a tendency to screw with your head. That being said, even though it may have been a universally recognized magical item, Neal could still have a connection to whatever it was and August just didn’t know it.
I completely agree. I kind of hope that August found out about the dagger from someone else (blue?) and never new that Neal was Bae. That would be a rather interesting twist.
November 5, 2012 at 2:39 pm #159600TheGoldenKeyParticipantI still can’t get over how many Peter Pan references there were in that episode. Emma mentions Neverland while climbing the beanstalk and Hooks talks about it and the Lost Boys. Emma mentions it again in the motel room. Neal tells her “Close your eyes and pick a spot”. Peter Pan said “Close your eyes………..and you’ll see Neverland.”. The dream catcher in the motel is the same one in Neal’s NY apartment. Screams out Tiger Lily to me. August asked Neal “Do you believe in magic?”. Peter pan asked viewers, all over the world, “Do you believe in Fairies?”. Funny how Neal kept wearing that same green hoody all throughout the episode. Peter wore green as did Bae, his green cloak.
When I re-watched the episode, it seems like it’s still the typewriter in the case. So yes, going back to what I said in the chat room last night. I believe it’s the picture of the dagger. Blue definitely had all her memories and knowledge of Bae’s whereabouts. She’s been calling all the shots.

Yeah, there was Peter Pan stuff all over the place. I wanna trust those hints, but dunno if I can. These writers are too crafty. π

If it was indeed still the typewriter in the box, perhaps there was a sheet of paper in it with words on it like: “My father. He is the Dark One,” said Baelfire sadly. “Oh. I canβt make him the man he was before,” replied Reul Ghorm, “but I can send him someplace where he wonβt be able to use his powers.” Seeing something like that, (if he is Bae), would be undeniable proof of who had sent August, (if Blue did), and that what he was saying was the truth.
November 5, 2012 at 3:25 pm #159613TheGoldenKeyParticipantAnother thing I noticed. In Vancouver, when Neal & AWB meet up, AWB says to Neal, “Been awhile, where did you go?”. Neal replies, “I tried to lose myself, it didn’t work”. Lose as in Lost Boys? Lose as in Rumple saying his son was Lost to him? He can’t lose himself because AWB called him out. Running is fruitless.

November 5, 2012 at 3:51 pm #159621bfilipeParticipantIf Neal is bae then August would have never met him before…. When August asked Neal if he believed in magic, Neal seemed to believe but have a bad experience with it in the past, or maybe he was trying to forget about magic and realizes that his life will never be without it. He realizes this when August tells him of Emma’s destiny and once again (if Neal is bae) his life is in contact with magic. He’ll finally confront his magical past and go to storybook an find his father… But that’s all under the assumption the Neal is bae but they might just be trying to trick us by giving us clues.. Also I don’t think tinkerbell was in the box because where would have August gotten a fairy? And she would have flew away when he opened the box.. No I don’t think Neal
