I think that box is like the Mirror of Erised from Harry Potter. You look at it and see what you want to see. So when Emma looked in the box she saw a typewriter– normal. When Neal looked in it he saw…? I’m banking on this guy being FTL. He was way too willing to help August help Emma break the curse. Not even Emma who had more proof than Neal had was that believing.
QUESTION: IF Bael disliked MAGIC…. why would he want to save the EF/ftl? Wouldn’t it better in his view point that he not turn magic loose in this world.

November 6, 2012 at 2:31 pm #159782RumplesGirlKeymasterIs it that Bae didn’t like Magic OR that he didn’t like what magic had done to his Father. He was willing to use magic to escape the Dark One’s curse on Rumple (the bean), so I’m sure if Bae doesn’t like magic or just the Dark One’s magic.

I don’t think he liked the Dark One’s magic because it took over his father.

Good point. and if you pay attention to the way he says “Magic is everywhere” it seems like telling a kid in our world that they were going to a world without water–just because they hated stromes, doesn’t mean they never played in a puddle.

If he was Bae, how would he have known this? Bae left way before SW/PC got married.

We don’t know what details were in the story Augest told him. Actually, the fact that by breaking the curse Emma would get the parents she’s wanted so badly, would be one of the few things we can almost GUARANTEE August would know even if he wasn’t working with BF.
November 6, 2012 at 4:32 pm #159799kalliopekiseesParticipantI fail to see how a picture of the dagger or even a picture of Bae would turn Neal’s mind so quickly. In fact, it seemed like August had no idea who Neal even was. Why would he assume the picture would work? It does not make sense to me and I will feel pretty let down by the writers if the article is a picture.
As far as Tink glowing… I’m not sure if there is a written law that pixies must glow at all times. Perhaps her “magic dust” doesn’t work properly in our world and therefore doesn’t glow. Who knows. I’m still convinced though that Tink is in that box.
I have NO IDEA if Neal is from FTL. I am pretty certain however, that August is one of the “Lost Boys.” As a result, I think he is traveling with Tink for some reason.
@ Crimson Angel… Indeed we are a land without magic, however there seems to be a wooden man walking around in it, a dead dragon in a library and now a werewolf. Magic does’nt come from our world, but it can be transported here.
Perhaps the box is an illusion such as Dr. Who’s Passport. (Love that show). I will take that explanation over the dagger picture.

Ha, I thought I recognized your name from Fan Forums, but it was actually here! Thank you so much for your story. I loved it. http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8678188/1/Stardust
ETA: Someone or several people perhaps have already tweeted Jane Espenson with the correct answer. It could still be anything, but I’m hoping it was the drawing of the dagger in the box.

ETAA: Here’s even more Jane Espenson spoilers mostly about the box, http://forums.televisionwithoutpity.com/index.php?showtopic=3209355&view=findpost&p=15338134
-She said what was in the box was both a “big… shiny… red… mystery” and then a “little.. shiny… mystery”.
-She seemed to imply that a potential Regina-Love-Arc was going to happen in the future. I could see this sense Daniel told Regina to “love again.”
-She said it wasn't Pinocchio's/August's fault that he gave into temptation because “he's just built that way.”
-She implied that August went back for Emma because of guilt, not because of a directive from someone else, but left this open ended.
-She would only say Neal “believed quickly” but wouldn't disclose if he had a FTL connection or not; this was as far as she would describe his connection to the object in the box.
-She confirmed that Aurora and Henry had the same dream.
-The reason August didn't tell Emma about her destiny is that he “doesn't deal with responsibility well.”I agree with the poster that wrote this that it's either a heart, the picture of a dagger, or perhaps both right now.
Interesting about August doing so out of guilt and not because the Blue Fairy contacted him, but there's wiggle room there since she left the answer open ended.
