I have no problem at all ignoring as a willing suspension of disbelief but I do think they have set up enough hints that Henry is special that they could make him the only one who ages in NL. Now if Dylan Schmid also looks a lot older after the summer break… well then we just have to fall back on suspension of disbelief. But it looked like he had already had quite a growth spurt before he filmed the last two episodes last year, so he may not have changed as much over the break.
This reminds me of the stories of how many people in the studio wanted to fire the 13 year old Annette Funicello from The Mickey Mouse Club when it became quite obvious that she was hitting puberty. I heard she was always grateful that Walt insisted on keeping her on the show.

They’ve made him special already since his picture was there long before he was born, but I’m not sure if they will go beyond that and bend the rules of NL that they’ve set up so far. If they do, I expect it to have a good explanation and it’s a possibility, I just don’t see it as that likely as of this time.
So the problem I had with it wasn’t really the possibility, but the jump that a lot are making in saying that’s how it’ll be explained because we know NL time passes faster than it did in FTL (which seems to run side-by-side with SB).
I fully expect the people in SB to think that the others have only been gone for a short time while they’ll feel like they’ve been gone for awhile, but I’m not comfortable with making the leap that that’s how they’ll explain Henry aging just yet.
There will be a lot of stuff regarding Henry being special to PP and that may be one of them, but just saying that time passes differently isn’t enough *right now* when the place where time goes by faster is also the place that’s been set up to have people never age.
If it were a different world involved and a character said they were there for a few days and everybody else said 1 day then I’d be ok with it and accept that the person grew up faster because they were in the world where time goes by quicker. I just have an issue with it because of it being Neverland. *right now*
If Henry is special because of this that and the other and can age I’ll be fine with it as long as it makes sense, but I’m not sure how they can do that just yet and not have it just seem like an easy cover-up for the actor aging, though they may have to as he does seem to have grown a lot over the summer so we shall see.
I agree that Dylan probably grew before they started filming a lot of his stuff so he should be alright, but we know that even if it’s not obvious with him, they still can’t make that exception because otherwise Neal wouldn’t be around today so it’s more a suspension of disbelief than anything. If they address one, it’s hard not to address the other when the same problem is in play, but it could happen I suppose.
I’m open to whatever we haven’t seen yet because it usually does have a good explanation (and twists and turns we never even guessed!), I’m just saying right now I’m having trouble making that leap with how the world has been presented so far. If they made a time jump in SB and said he was a few months older that’s one thing – going to a land where nobody ages and then making him age/be super special to where he defies the natural laws of that land I’m going to need to see on screen with a good explanation is all.

He’s grown a little from the pilot, but it’s not like he suddenly shot up and looks like a teenager (especially next to hollywood-style 20 year old teenagers cast for the Lost Boys like Felix) rather than a kid. They might not put him in a scene with the other kid actors he’s been in with before (like young August, Grace or whoever) but those kids probably grew too anyway. Long term I kind of wonder what they have in mind but actors growing is not a new problem.

Eddie and Adam said that Jared is free to age up because the story takes place over a long period of time, whereas with Walt they had only been on the island for like 90 days and it wouldn’t have been logical for the character to age so much.
Considering they’ve clearly been planning for Neverland for some time, I’m sure they’ve taken into consideration the fact that Jared will be aging already and how that will affect the storyline.

The pic was taken from above and had close range, cause the illusion of a broader face and the th longer hair is in a teen-like style, causing a more matue look. Jared grew alot between the begining of the first season (When the youger coparison shots were taken) and the end of season 2 filming. The differance is not as major between the end of season 2 and the newest shot.
The pics are begining of season 1 (promo pic), end of season 2 (screenshot), and now

So maybe Henry is, in a way, immune to immortality and will always age regardless of how time works where he may happen to be. Forgive me if someone else stated this.
October 22, 2013 at 12:53 am #217933PheeParticipantYeah I’ve wondered before if they could explain it like that. As it turns out, Jared’s growth spurt hasn’t been hugely obvious to me, but Dylan Schmid’s on the other hand. 😆 I can get over it, because it’s just an unavoidable thing, but it does make me laugh that t-word wise, Bae was taller and had a deeper voice, then he shrank and went high pitched to fall through the portal. 😉

He only “appeared” to shrink because he was beaten down and broken and he went high-pitched due to stress *nods* That’s it right there…

That works. Henry was never affected by the Curse the same way the residents of Storybrooke were because he was born in our world and brought to Storybrooke.
As for Henry’s scenes in Neverland, quite frankly, I don’t even think about it. I think the fact that Pan is older, makes Henry look younger.
