I definitely agree that you can’t necessarily take Tink’s word as gospel in regard to the ‘soulmate’ thing. Fairies help people, can grant wishes, and whatnot, but they’re not necessarily…I guess Cupid, for lack of a better word. Their purpose is not to find others’ soulmates or even to define the term soulmate…so while the pixie dust was used to find Robin for Regina, I don’t believe that’s proof positive that as a result Robin MUST be Regina’s soulmate, or if Tink did the same with two other couples, it would mean they are soulmates as well. I think Tink using the word ‘soulmate’ was to emphasize to the audience that Regina was frightened by Robin and the possibility of a new relationship, and the one presented to her by Tink could have been life changing — because it meant Regina was willing to turn to the Light and not the Dark.
I would’ve hoped that writers, who are usually so careful with words, would’ve given some deep thought to this question at the start of the entire show and had at least a working definition, rather than coming up with something on the fly.
Now this I agree with 100%

Lol, now I have this weird image of all the fairies morphing into cupid/s on valentines day to shoot pixie dust at unsuspecting people as they pass by lol 😛 The mystery of soulmates has been solved 😉 lol

I need this now. That brings up an interesting point about Cupid. We’ve already seen some Greek mythology on Once (Midas, Pegasus,), do you think cupid exists in the Enchanted Forest?

He must do surely…. if not, they need to write him in- it could make an epic episode & I’d pay good money to see their take on him, not to mention certain characters reactions to meeting him lol 😉
Thought this fits here. A short look into the history about ideas of love and soulmate.
Think OUaT started with an interesting variety of ideas on love, but unfortunately they got stuck in a narrowing romantic trap by now.
¯\_(?????? ?)_/¯
