Spawn Of Zelena (Theory)

So thanks to @Nevermore for seeding this theory:

Basically, Zelena’s child is the future Dark One.. The gang is going to use Apprentice’s wand to transfer the darkness out of Emma and into the unborn pure vessel that is Zelena’s little green bean. We saw this happen last season with Emma and Lily, who is to say it was not just foreshadowing. And plus I figured that wand is going to be more important that it seems. I say either the crew will transfer of the darkness or Zelena (who is apparently the only one who can use it) will get her hands on it and do it herself. She probably isn’t powerful enough to kill Emma and take the powers for herself, but with the wand she can have a powerful child…. Which is very Cora-ish.

It would be very fitting given the cyclical history of parents hurting their children who grow up to hurt their children theme. I could see it happening but my major stopping point is “what next?” What happens after you put the darkness into a baby. We did the Lily storyline. We’ve had Zelena as the big bad. We’re still an 8pm Disney show run by the Great Mouse, so they aren’t going to have our gang kill a baby and to have a baby be the Big Bad (a newborn, really) would be….a level of stupid that this show has not yet reached.

Well…if its the last season…anything could happen. Plus, I find the idea of evil baby absolutely awesome but then again, i’m just weird. And perhaps they wouldn’t have to actually….kill it. Just take away it’s powers.

Snowing has a child that may or may not have it’s own TL magic. Maybe it’s pure untainted goodness will counteract the concentrated tainted darkness within the child. The boom, problem solved.

And perhaps they wouldn’t have to actually….kill it. Just take away it’s powers.

Then what was the point of the transfer in the first place? If the steps go:

1) Transfer Darkness to Baby Green from Dark Swan

2) Get rid of Darkness from Baby Green

3) The End

then why are we wasting out time with the transfer at all? Why not just cut out the middle man and get rid of the Darkness from Dark Swan?

Surely A&E are planning to do something with the wee one. I think Zelena giving it dark magic could be a thing. Or perhaps it’s just naturally born with magic and that causes trouble. Or perhaps Zelena pulls a cora and tries to force it to be a certain way… Hmmm. Idk. I just cannot accept that this babe is just here for….nothing.

It’s cute that you think so.

Are A and E planning something with it? Sure it has a clear narrative purpose in that it’s 1) dramaz for OQ and 2) probably how they plan on redeeming Zelena even if Redemption-Through-Motherhood is cliche and, frankly, rather misogynistic. I would expect nothing less at this point.

I think it would be really out of order if the heroes decide to put the darkness in Zelena’s baby. Did they not learn anything from the last time they did it with Lily? Also I think it would show how self-centred the heroes really are if they’re willing to put the darkness inside a baby just so Emma doesn’t have it any more. So long as the heroes are alright, why should they care about anyone else that isn’t in their little group?

A&E are in danger of making their protagonists very unsympathetic and hard to root for.

All magic comes with a price!

Watcher, the idea of “evil baby” is hardly a new one, though as I said, they rarely stay babies for long. There was Jasmine on Angel, Adria on Stargate, and Lexi on Falling Skies, to mention a few. (With varying degrees of redeemability. )

And Charmed had a whole plot about the most powerful baby ever, who was prophesied to become evil and rule the world. His younger brother even came back from the future to prevent it. (No fast growing babies there, just plenty of time travel and visions to see the future version.) Anyway it turned out that someone else who knew of the prophesy was trying to kill him as a baby to prevent him becoming evil, not realizing that trying to kill him is what turns him evil! But his family prevents it and all turns out well.

Oh, and this all powerful baby? Destined to rule the world for good or evil? He controlled Excalibur!!! 😮
