Like the theory, but…
I see Zelena getting somewhat of a redemption story this season. I would say the writers started the threads of that redemption story in the premier when Zelena didn’t try to kill anyone once she got the apprentice’s wand and her magic back.
There’s a chance she might actually love that baby for the right reasons. That love blinded Zelena to her hatred for Regina so much in this episode that she didn’t kill anyone. Even her threats to Robin seemed weak for Zelena. Her goal was simply to leave town, so she could forget all these people she keeps losing to.

The gang is going to use Apprentice’s wand to transfer the darkness out of Emma and into the unborn pure vessel that is Zelena’s little green bean. We saw this happen last season with Emma and Lily, who is to say it was not just foreshadowing. And plus I figured that wand is going to be more important that it seems. I say either the crew will transfer of the darkness or Zelena (who is apparently the only one who can use it) will get her hands on it and do it herself. She probably isn’t powerful enough to kill Emma and take the powers for herself, but with the wand she can have a powerful child…. Which is very Cora-ish. Thoughts?
For what it’s worth, I don’t think they’ll go the Rosemary’s Baby route with it. But I get the feeling that Zelena is planning something in relation to Emma and the DO curse, and that’s what came to mind for me. One way to get around the evil baby problem is to frame it in such a way that dark magic isn’t, in fact, dark in and of itself, but rather that something or someone tainted it. Then it went totally out of control and haywire, and Merlin, or whoever, had to bind it to Excalibur and stick the sword in the rock. Then someone lobed off a piece of the sword to make the dagger, and there you have it, dagger-bound DO. Anyway, point is, all this hinges on whether the DO darkness is some kind of primordial darkness (Evil, capital E), or if it’s a tainted version of a preexisting neutral force, like, say, polluted water. If the latter, by transferring it into a baby (or an unborn fetus), its taint might be annulled or transformed. It would simply be pure power. Or this could be the logic with which Zelena approaches this, only to then be warned by the heroes that it’s a bad idea.
then why are we wasting out time with the transfer at all? Why not just cut out the middle man and get rid of the Darkness from Dark Swan?
I think if any of these transfers are happening, it would be on Zelena’s behest. I.e, I don’t think it’d be the heroes doing it. I think it’d be Zelena, with the hope of giving her child infinite powers. I’m not even sure that this is what will happen, but mark my words, they are planning something with that baby and the darkness.

I know I don’t post on here very often and I’m sure anyone who’s seen any of my theories in the past is probably just going to roll their eyes at me because I know I’ve thrown “X IS MORGANA/MORDRED” into the ring so many times, but hear me out for a second:
I think Zelena’s going to name her baby Mordred.
Let’s just look at some facts here: Morgana le Fay, most frequently interpreted as: evil witch, half-sister of a Great Hero whom she wants to take everything away from. Mother of said half-sibling’s child, sometimes, and when it’s Morgana (Mists of Avalon being the one notable exception that comes to mind where this isn’t the case), she usually conceives Mordred through magical deception.
Morgana le Fay, a major element of Arthurian lore that this season appears to be lacking.
Then we have Zelena. Evil witch, half-sister of a Now-Great Hero whom she wants to take everything away of. Not the mother of Regina’s baby, but her True Love’s; said baby conceived while wearing Marian’s face.
Zelena’s bump to the main cast, of course, means two things: she’ll get more backstory (they like Bex too much, and honestly have already shown IMO, that they’ll be treating her better than they did Will), and, as a Main Cast Villain a la Rumple and Regina, she’s inevitably going to get an episode down the line where we meet/learn she has backstory with a new character, and she’ll absorb another fictional role besides the Wicked Witch.
I remember some people were theorizing that Zelena might have history with Guinevere and that’s why she’s been added to the cast/is coming to Camelot. I’d like to extend that to theorize it’s because we’re going to learn that, in the past, Zelena traveled to Camelot and fulfilled a Morgana le Fay/Morgause-esque role (exposed the Gwencelot affair? Cursed Guinevere with barrenness? No idea).
I might be wrong; I know some people wouldn’t care for the idea, but I for one, as the unabashed Zelena fanboy I am, would LOVE this twist, which could set up for an ongoing storyline with Zelena indoctrinating Mordred against Robin (or, more likely, a sloppily-written age-advancing spell to jump him up in age because of some prophecy about the son killing the father, etc.). I’d certainly prefer this over a complete lack of Morgana.
Not trying to hijack the thread, just been brewing over this thought since last night and came here to post it only to find that there was already a thread about the significance of Zelena’s baby up.
Keeper of Zelena's witch hat and the Black Fairy's wand.
