TVLine: Scoop on Ben and Greg’s Characters
Question: Got any Once Upon a Time scoop for us? — Susan
Ausiello: Yes! While speaking with Josh Dallas about this week’s David/Charming-heavy episode, Matt Mitovich picked his brain about Brothers & Sisters alum John Pyper-Ferguson’s character, who thus far has only been described as the widowed father to a young boy. “I can’t tell you anything,” Dallas hedged. “Just know that he’s an outsider.” Speaking of outsiders, Dallas was slightly more forthcoming with a status report on wayward driver Greg Mendell, played by Ethan Embry. “In this Sunday’s episode, you see Greg grilling Belle about what she actually saw that night at the car accident,” he said, musing: “Hmm, why does he want to know…?”http://tvline.com/2013/02/05/scandal-spoilers-season-2-ask-ausiello/
So perhaps “Owen” is a young Greg after all…..

Yes, and Luke Sky Walker’s son was named Ben as well.
With Greg being called an outsider and now Ben and Owen being called the same thing, have to wonder who Greg Mendell really is. Peter Pan keeps popping into my head.

I would think that if Greg was a storybrook character of any kind they would not call him an outsider….he would just be another character from another world like Whale/Dr. Frankenstein…and they don’t call him an outsider. Then again maybe they are just keeping mum about it that way.I do think there is a possibility that Greg is the adult version of Owen though.
lol kind of get the feeling that the outsiders of OUaT equals the others of Lost at this point.

My theories almost always end up wrong but it’s fun to guess…bad when you have guessed almost every possible way things can be and still end up being wrong. lol

😮 Great idea. Maybe Ben and Owen saw SB magically appear out of nowhere when it was first created, and Greg (aka grown-up Owen) has returned to investigate the strange occurrences from 28 years before.

Seriously, the crackpot speculation is half the fun of this show for me, even if I get it wrong more often than not, at least it’s keeping my brain active and it’s fun to let my imagination run riot. 😀

I’ve been wondering if perhaps there was a glitch in the beginning where outsiders (Ben and Owen) could find the town, and it was only after that that Regina put the barrier spell into effect. But I dunno that she’d have had enough magic to achieve that.

Exactly. Did it really work at the beginning? Or did it really work perfectly for 28 years? I’m betting the first few years or so will see Regina working hard to keep people out because the Curse wasn’t perfect.
