Owen- aka Greg- could have been running with August as a child/pre-teen (when a bunch of them left the orphanage together) & heard about this magical place in our world which August had come from, maybe he found a home eventually with Ben, changed his name to Greg & the rest is history 😉
It’s obvious now that August had some kind of magic available to him, since whatever shiny blue thing Neal glanced at, made him totally believe that August’s ‘magic is real & Emma’s destiny’ talk, were the real deal & not the crazy rantings of a lunatic, so August had to have found that somewhere- I wonder if he ran into Peter, since he & the others could have been considered ‘lost boys’ & got the magic from him- or was it Tink he showed Neal….. Oh man, the list of ‘what it could be’, is so long 😆It’s all a giant stretch I know, but I don’t have anything else 😉

Interesting! So in the timeline, they probably won’t be around at the beginning of SB then, because Regina didn’t adopt Henry until 18 years into the curse.
Judging by this statement by K&H in one of their “lightening rounds” of questions, we won’t see babyHenry in this ep:
Will we get to see how Regina came to adopt Henry (Jared Gilmore)?

I hope they at least cover that story next Season. It is one of the glaring unanswered questions we’ve been waiting for since the very beginning.

Not necessarily. We dunno how they ended up in exactly the right place to put the idea into Regina’s head at exactly the right time to adopt Henry. Wouldn’t surprise me at all if there are Blue shenanigans involved somehow.
Here is a very interesting tweet from Adam Horowitz concerning outsiders and the formation of SB in 1983. Owen and Ben could be witnesses of the town’s creation.
Also, anther tweet makes me think Greg’s HER might just be another character who came from another world and wasn’t affected by the curse:
