It’s so infuriating when they answer a question by saying, “Great question!” 😈 😆

This could be Robin Hood too then

The casting call that’s believed to be for Robin Hood was for ep19.

IMDB is now listing John Pyper-Ferguson’s character as Kurt Flynn.

There was a Flynn Rider, Rapunzel ‘s love interest, in the Disney animated film “Tangled” but I doubt the characters are one and the same.

I thought John Pyper-Ferguson had been cast as Ben, the widowed father of Owen, whom I believed to be the boy from our world who inspired Regina to adopt Henry. So if John is also playing Kurt Flynn, is he from the EF or from our world?

That occurred to me too, but this guy is mourning the loss of his wife, right? Would they kill off Rapunzel?

Regarding Erroll Flynn, though Robin Hood is the role he’s best remembered for, he was also in The Prince and the Pauper, which is another well known story.

No, I don’t believe they’d kill off Rapunzel just like that, which is precisely why I doubt John will play Flynn Rider.

I think the Prince and the Pauper was alluded to in the characters of twin brothers Prince James and shepherd David.

In the first spoiler listed in this thread, Josh Dallas referred to Ben as an “outsider” which makes me wonder if he is from our world or from another world other than the EF. Also, it makes me wonder if Greg is adult “Owen” who is the son of said outsider, and Greg is also referred to as “the outsider.”

For sure. However, the character that Flynn played wasn’t one of the prince/pauper boys. He was Miles Hendon:

Meanwhile, Edward (the prince in the title) finds an amused, if disbelieving protector in Miles Hendon (Errol Flynn). An attempt to assassinate the boy on the instigation of the Earl of Hertford, who fears for his power if the real king lives, changes Hendon’s opinion of Edward’s story. With Hendon’s help, Edward manages to re-enter the palace just in time to interrupt the coronation ceremony and prove his identity.

And this character on Once will be looking after a young boy.

I do think Owen is young Greg but this is Intresting considering the last name

    Celtic Meaning:
The name Owen is a Celtic baby name. In Celtic the meaning of the name Owen is: or Eugene.

    Also Kurt means Advisor

An interesting comparison I’ve seen on another discussion forum: Kurt and Owen Flynn mirror Kevin and Sam Flynn from TRON:Legacy, as in they’re both father and son who entered a place they aren’t supposed to be. In fact, the actor who played young Sam in the film is named Owen.

This is likely not a coincidence, since both movie and TV series have Kitsis and Horowitz as writers.

Some have said that Ben & Owen are just a Star Wars referece (like Emma & Henry being from Wizard of Oz) but I’ve seen many connections to Tangled as well. I think they kinda jumbled up all of their references for this one. For some reason I had it in my head that John Pyper-Ferguson was going to be playing Robin Hood and that would have connections to Errol Flynn would would make sense…but now he’s just an outsider? I am so lost!

Kat: Robin Hood is in episode 19, Lacy

I don’t think there is going to be any connection to Tangled, I think they are just two very normal people, except that young Owen is going to be Greg.
