I don’t think there is going to be any connection to Tangled, I think they are just two very normal people, except that young Owen is going to be Greg.
Thanks RumplesGirl. In re to: have we seen the casting for it? I think I merged the actor news with the possible people to still see this season somehow which isn't like me but I didn't look too far into spoilers around that time so may have just glanced.
I think it’s probably just a Star Wars thing of Ben & Owen…but why they would even think of using “Flynn” for anything not related to Tangled or Errol Flynn in someway is beyond me. Any Errol Flynn reference would be better served for a Robin Hood type character than anything else. Just saying Flynn with Disney makes people think of Tangled so goodness knows how that will be brought in later on.
It’s kinda like the fact that we already had a James so we got Killian for Hook’s first name…how many Flynns can there be? (Granted a) Flynn is a last name here not a first and b) it’s a made-up one at that not the real one but the fact that one of the names here means Eugene is just distracting if it doesn’t connect at all which brings me back to…
I really think they stopped at the Star Wars connection and anything else was a fluke. They probably didn’t look too far into it unless there is a crazy connection somewhere down the line they’re setting up for. They’re usually soooo careful and good with picking out names that I’m kinda surprised there were all these (very obvious) connections to something it probably isn’t. Granted we did have the “Whale” thing and people thought Monstro for over a season but this seems to be leading to two characters and neither one will end up being right.
Looking forward to how this plays out. Definitely need more info on connections for this one.

An interesting comparison I’ve seen on another discussion forum: Kurt and Owen Flynn mirror Kevin and Sam Flynn from TRON:Legacy, as in they’re both father and son who entered a place they aren’t supposed to be. In fact, the actor who played young Sam in the film is named Owen.
This is probably the case, since both movie and TV series have Kitsis and Horowitz as writers.
I was just about to come on the board and post this Demileto. Completely agree with you. Definite nod to Tron and Kevin & Sam Flynn. Like them, Kurt and Owen are caught in SB, just as the curse brings everyone from the EF there.
K&H told us there’d be nods to Tron 😉 Funny how they connected the dots from Star Wars (Ben & Owen) now to Tron (with Kurt Flynn & Owen). They are soooo sneaky! 😆

Nope, we haven’t seen the actor who will play that part yet.

Wonder why they kept that one under wraps but I guess some of the others they announce just days before to get people excited about it. (Frankly they left the Cassidy Freeman one too late I think – she has a huge following from Smallville, etc). Curious to see who it is though, they better be awesome, and it’s hard to outdo a fox! (Definitely my favorite version so whoever it is needs to be foxy in some way, right??) *wishful thinking rant over*

Tron references! Nice catch guys!

I get a lot of the other ones from stuff they love or have worked on but I’m not at all familiar with that world. Glad there’s more logical connections though…even if they do overlap with misleading ones that are more obvious to the rest of us.

Yes, another license plate post 🙂

March 14, 2013 at 10:14 pm #180003MysteryKat25ParticipantThe letters: AFTJ itself = Association of Florida Teachers of Japanese or American Friends of Turkish Jewry…only connection I could make is that call numbers from Belle's purse were for a section on geography of & travel in Asia; “aft” by itself = At, near, or toward the stern of a ship or tail of an aircraft.
The numbers: 398 in the Dewey Decimal system is “folklore”
The plate itself is from New Jersey – Garden State, so it should definitely be an outsider
So hypothetically combining it all: Asian or Turkish folklore; Turkey is smack dab in the middle of Europe & Asia from what I can tell so it could be Asian folklore in general but how that connects to these people? I have absolutely NO clue but this is what I’ve found that connects to fairy tales. Looking forward to seeing what others come up with since we all attack things from different angles!

Same state on Neal’s wanted poster. Can’t be coincidence when they have so many states to choose from.

Good point which begs the question: what kind of connection could there possibly be??
The Neal one makes sense because it connects rather nicely to the Peter Pan theory. The outsiders not so much.
